Why do People waste Money on 15k or FoW armor?

Ah cool didn't know that, don't see many monks with fissure and don't speak to them when i do as they are probably 55build farmers.

Still if i'm just going to look like every monk thats ever got the fissure armour it's probably not worth it in my eyes, i assumed that the fissure each looked different.

for me, it's all about the looks.... just research the various armors and pick your flava, and if someone says "omg noob in Drok's" or "omg FoW 1EE7", who cares? YOU'RE the one staring at your character hour after hour, not the PUG ranger/mesmer/warrior/etc. flaming you because he doesn't like your armor...

yeah i just have my crappy tat armour for energy, wish there was a cheap armor that was clothing with the same stats.

I can't stand people that farm for FOW Armor all day, and then they whine about how boring farming is. I tell them that they shouldn't farm for looks if they don't even enjoy farming, but they just ignore me.

I also can't stand people that got FOW Armor without Superior Vigor for example. They tell me it's only 9 Health. You spend 1500K on your FOW Armor and still say it's only 9 Health? At least you can do something with 9 Health, you can't do anything with FOW Armor.

I'm fine with people that have FOW Armor by farming with pleasure and do have perfect items for their build though. You need to spend your money on something.

simple. you are rich, you have beaten the game, and you want something great and hard to acheive. you save up and go buy your fissure armor.

1- got nothing to do with tons of cash
2- takes alot of hard work - keeps PvE alive
3- it looks HOT
4- STATUS > in flaming with dumb ppl u can always say "haha i got fow ur a noob" [i dont have fow ;p ]
5- why play gw? why spend real money on gw ? ... so why not spend game money in game ?
entertainment. not many people got FoW, so it makes you more unique.

i would buy fow for my monk, but it sux, so im debating whether to save up or wait for new classes and re-consider ;]

We all have a a sence of fashion in us. But sometimes things are alittle to expensive. When you have the money, you get what your long time goal has desired.

Just to add, I don't personally think the 15k (or FoW for that matter) sets are in any way essential, if people have spare money to spend/wanna farm for those, that's up to to them.

The one exception as I mentioned is the non-15k male Gladiator set:



I used to have one of those. It was soooo embarrasing I used to swap to (non-15k at the time) platemail whenever I stepped foot in a town.

wat i m saying here is the original poster assume, ppl will get tired of FoW armor after a few days. how he can put his own thought on everyone.

and whether it look stupid or not, it again a personal taste. the armor does not look stupid just becoz you think it is stupid.

yeah good post.. thing with the fow armor is not everyone worked for it.. there's ebayers and people who were just in the right place at the right time (during the trader update you could buy sup absorb for 2k and sell it back to the trader for 70- and ectos were selling for 300g) that kinda peeved me at first cause spent almost 10 days in uw at the time to get the 105 ecto I needed for the monk armor- some guys got all 4 of thier chars fitted with 10k in the bank.. can't blame em though I woulda did it

Alright you people are realling argueing over something you shouldn't be argueing about.
Why do people buy expensive and seemingly pointless things? Here's the simple term: because THEY want to and THEY can afford to.
Like in real life, why do people buy expensive Razor phones when they can get other inexpensive flip cell-phones that are about the same as a Razor? or why do people get an Ipod Nano when the ipod mini has the same functions and isn't that easy to break? or why does someone order from an expensive resturant when the one downt he street has the same food and close to service?

Because there is a finacial class just like in real life: Lower, Middle, Upper. Why does each class have different homes,stuff,etc? Because they can afford too and want to be different. Poor people in real life rant and argue about how rich people are or how they have nice things. The thing is, you people have lost the nearby reasoning that things in RL almost applies in online games. You know why? You aren't playing with brainless NPCs, you are playing with other people OUT THERE, not IN THERE.

Okay the main idea for armor is: THEY want, THEY work for it, THEY like it. The keyword is THEY and not YOU, cause YOU are not THEY.

if i had beaten the game 789 times and had 5 million dollars... yeah, id buy FoW armor too... but i dont, so i cant. but i dont have a problem with it, i may be somewhat jealous, but that gives me greater incentive to getit my self, and work harder

It's all about style. What's better than having the skill and being in a top ranked guild, decimating opponents every match? Doing it all in FoW armour with that Perfect Chaos Axe and Magma Shield.

And Ella, it looks awesome imo. Too bad I don't really like playing an Ele that much.

"Why don't people play the game the same way as I do? They must be noobs!"

I wouldn't worry about how others spend their "money". The fact is that 15k armour exists, so simply being there is enough for some to want it. One of my goals always was to get all my bots 15k armour.

Oh! and of course it's not real money, so no harm done anyway.

I myself bought all my characters their 15k armors before their weapons. When people have a lot of money to blow its great to have a little something to show off. Sure 15ks arent that rare to see anymore (save FoW armor) but it still helps you stand out, feel like you're more unique and it just looks much better usually.Also since perfect weapons sup absorp and vigor dont give you a huge edge in this game some people go for asthetics.
