13 Axe Mastery?

Hi, I have a W/Mo level 20 and using an axe, I got a yellow axe which required 13 axe mastery. I check my Hero status, it doesn't allow me to upgrade to 13, only 12 is max.

Is it 12 is max? How do I get more rank?

You can buy helms that I know of that give + mastery. Look for armor crafters.

You can craft a helm to give you +1 to axe mastery to get up to 13.

In addition to that, you can use a rune that gives either +1, +2, or +3 more to axe mastery (with a penalty to your health maximum for the latter two) for a max possible of 16.

What is the deal with the mastery levels anyway?

I have a sword that requires 10 Sword Mastery (I have 9 currently) and I can use it just fine!

Yeah, but you won't be doing the damage it lists.

Right, and you're probably only doing a small fraction of the damage that you would if you had 1 more point in that mastery...

I'm already doing such awesome damage with it though... I just need one more level.

Or try to acquire a Rune of Minor Swordsmanship if you don't already have one.
Or a sword mod that gives +1 swordsmanship.

I have been hoping for one, and I managed to find 4 drops last night (in 2 hours) that had runes in them... NONE OF WHICH I COULD USE!!!! AAUUGHH!!!!

I have two staff runes, a bow grip rune, and an axe grip rune.

I suppose I could use the axe grip rune, but I don't have a decent axe... and I only use one weapon slot currently anyway.

Well then I would try to trade with someone if possible.

I only have 1/5 of a bar to go, before my next level... at which time I'll be upgrading my sword mastery anyway.

I suppose it would be smarter to get a grip, and spend those points elsewhere... when I'm bored of adventuring, I'll head to ascalon and trade up a bit.
