Pet Questions

I got a pet, melandru stalker, it was at level 5. Then it was level 6, not sure how this happened so how can I level up my pet?
Also, I know that you can get many different types of pet, but does it just matter on your pets level for how powerful it is, or is it also what type of pet? I was thinking of getting a bear, but they are level 3, so would it be worth losing my melandru stalker and get a bear?

Another question, is there any monsters that I could kill at level 5 ranger (pre-searing) that has good drops? Or is that type of play non-existent in GW? Thx

The bear will soon level up; there hasn't been that much difference noted between pets so right now most people will tell you to go for what you think looks cool

do a search in the Riverside Inn section; there are a few threads in there about bears that say where to get them (mostly in post-sear i believe)
