Yes, you'll need to pick up the game box. In side the box is the extrmely important key so you can play on and after April 28th. I'm sure they'll be other goodies inside the box like a CD containing the Client, a manual, among other things. Unless you get your key emailed to you, you ill defitnly need to pick up the game box to play the game.

A question of his/hers that hasn't been answered that I would like answered is, What do you need to take to the store that shows you pre-ordered? Or something. I mean, supposedly pre-ordering allows you a copy of the game that is yours when it comes out. What do we do to insure we can get our copy of the game? Thats what we want to know.

Thanks Whosa, I will jsut go in there and see if I can get it. I'll take my Pre-Order Receipt I guess jsut in cae they want to make sure I actually purchased it. Then they will prolly let me buy it.

Question Will my preorder access key be the same as the one that allows me full access to the game? Answer The Guild Wars Preorder Access Key functions only for our pre-release events. You will receive a new key when you purchase a retail version of Guild Wars. You will be prompted to enter that key when you join the game for the first time. Entering this key and your existing account user name will give you access to your special item and to the character names that have been reserved to your personal account. |
i believe that gamestop and eb usually have you on record when you preorder so you may not need a receipt. i usually have it anyways, just to be safe.
however, best buy is not as good at the preorder thing. they do not actually keep a record of who bought the preorder package. you NEED a receipt to show the customer service rep in order for them to discount the price. if you do not have a receipt, you pay full retail price. however, if you paid with a credit card, they can try to look up the transaction and pull up a receipt, as they can do with any other purchase. this is not guranteed to work and definitely doesnt if you paid with cash.

The guy at EB where I preordered said I don't even need to bring in my receipt when I pick up the game, jsut some ID so they know it's me thats picking it up. My name is stored on the computer under my phone number and paid off so I'll just go in there and grab it on the 28th (unless preorders can pick up early).

It appears that BestBuy doesn't have a uniform in store pre-order policy. From my experience with pre-ordering The Sims2 for my daughter, all I needed to do was bring in the pre-order box and go to customer service, at which time they handed me the full game and gave me a form to pay for the difference, would assume(dangerous word, I know) that they will handle GW the same way, but just in case I have my receipt.

Depends on what store you got the game from.
A friend of mine went through Best Buy... they said nothing about picking up the retail package ..except for needing the original receipt... I went through EB games... they actually inquired me to my phone number and my full name...my receipt is optional..all I need to do is show my driver's license as ID to pick it up (though I did save the receipt as well)

Anyone have fun like I just did with BestBuy? I preordered right after the Jan BWE. I got the preorder package in 4 days, and they followed up with notification every time information changed regarding the final game. All good, right? They just cancelled my order for the final game because it wouldn't ship in a reasonable amount of time. HELLO! It's a preorder for an item I know hasn't been released yet! I tried calling them and it only took me 3 tries to figure out how to get to a human, but by then I didn't have enough time to wait for my call to be answered in the order it was received. (Gotta love the automated system!)
It's not all bad since I got the preorder package for the $1.50 shipping cost
. I think I'm going to preorder the final game from EB now. It's closer to home and I'd rather have the bow than the shield anyway.
I'm still laughing about it.

, you need your reciept to recieve the Pre-order is that what you were wondering?
Most stores DO NOT take a name, they need the reciept. (CompUSA, BestBuy, EBGames, etc.)
The only exception would be if they had a log and you actually gave them your name to be put into that log. This excludes holding the Pre-order package before purchase of the Pre-order package.Hope this answers the question.

If you live outside US I suggest you check out gamestop. They e-mail you the beta key. Mine got e-mailed in the same day that I pre-ordered it.
