2 years in the army and no XP gain?

Anyone else noticed that after you finish the Academy and the Searing occurs, it's "Two Years Later" when you start in post searing, and you've just come back from a patrol, yet you've still got exactly the same amount of XP that you had at the time of the searing?
I'd have thought that two years patroling the front lines, fending off gargoyles and stone elementals would surely gve you some experience. Especially when you consider that all that occured in pre-searing was only in the span of one day.
Day before the searing: Levels 1 - 7
Next two years: No progess
After two years: Back to gaining XP.

I'm not complaining, I just think it's an amsuing oversight in terms of plot and believeability.

It's also believable that you're fighting humanoid cats decked out in armor... come on it's a game.

May be you were hiding in a cave.

Hmmm, could be! Imagine that, all the players hiding in a cave for two years. Imagine how many districts it would have to have!

Perhaps were were simply lucky and they were just very uneventful patrols. Maybe it's the slow shift.

Maybe you had KP duty, and were peeling potatoes for two years. or for the army guys CQ duty every night.

The explosions knocked you uncouscious for 2 years.
Aliens erased your memory of battle (thus exp)
Brain flayer ate half of your brain making you lose memory.

Spent all your time in a bar drinkin and flirting

You went insane and was put into an assylum. You were just released.

You were busy killing rats the whole time

You had a sleep over at Micheal Jacksons.

You were busy online complaining about a game being unrealistic.

I mean AFTER 2 years we were like family They are all on my ignore list because now they keep asking me for money. Hey, just because we survived that for 2 years doesn't give you the right to ask for money.
