So Are golds or even purples going to drop from monsters anymore?

I like the update from a PvE aspect, but only because I haven't finished the new missions and quests yet. But once those are done then what? Will be boring again I assume.

I fought my way to the war camp today with my ele and I didn't get hardly any drops. I only took 3 henches too. I didn't get a single troll tusk and I killed about 40 of them, how is that possible? I also got about 5 gold (money) drops in over 100 monsters I would say, and netted after paying hences about 40 gold. I got 7 white weapons, although 3 of them were max, but so what? Puprles aren't even worth anything now.

The way chests are dropping golds the gold wepaons won't be worth anything in a week either.

This is simply going to turn into a Diablo with better graphics. Eveyrone is going to have the same weapons, and if they can't get them they will go to Ebay and buy them, or buy the gold to get them in game. Because gold seems to becoming more difficult to get.

While DROP rates have gone to complete hell, the ability to get drops isn't necessary with all the chests around. Most maps have 3-4 chests, so that is 3-4 decent weapons that a person can get per run. For less than 3K you can possibly get 4 golds. I have opened 16 chests, I have 9 golds and 7 purples. Purples are basically uselss, and even though I found a few that were max with mods, and nice upgrades and low req I just sold them to the trader, what might have been worth 4-5 platinum is now something you might as well sell to the trader to make space.

As mentioned, I have also noticed that other than the new area the gold drops have also gone way down hill, so that might possibly even things out somewhat, if people spend and spend on keys and get less and less gold from runs they will eventually go broke. So it might turn into a weapon to weapon trading system rather than gold for weapon system.

So it is a wait and see thing I guess.

I am sure if gold(money) is dropping far less people will piss and moan about that too, especially if they go broke buying keys and hordeing increasingly diminishing in value gold weapons. (welcome to Ebay for $10 you can buy x amount of gold for Guild Wars)

It is quickly going to turn into what it was before, and maybe even worse. The haves controlling everything, because they will still have the only tangeable assets (Gold and Platinum) While everyone else will have spent all their plats buying keys thinking they will get rich. It wil be the hyper inflation all over again. But with all the dropd that are taking place gold and plats might be come obsolete as well. But what aboutthe new people that just bought the game? It wil take them even longer to be able to even afford to buy a key. Unless ascalon keys (50 gold) will net them a non max gold weapon somewhere.

I have spent some on keys, I admit, but I also have over 1.2 million in plats, so me buying 20 keys per toon isn't that big to me. Especially if I get a completely perfect weapon that I can USE. Basically I have spent 50K and have 80 chances to find a perfect weapon. Even if the weapon is worth far less than what it might have been, it is still worth that much to me because I am actually going to use it. So that 50K that won't even dent what I have was well worth it. Especially if I sell the other 79 weapons to the traders and get 10-12 K back, that means I got it for 40K.

It is certainly a lot better than buying some unided max wepon in LA for 5-10K and seeing some trash mods and upgrades on it. So basically it is making unided gold weapons worth 700 gold, MAYBE 1500 if it is an 8 requirement. But if the market is flooded they are basically useless unless they are perfect. And they certainly are quickly becoming anyting but RARE.

That isn't even factoring in the green weapons, which is a fad as far as I am concerned. Many are completely usless. You cant slavage them, nor can you switrch mods. So unless you have the perfect build for the weapon you aren't going to want it. So gold weapons are still vastly superior, even if they don't come perfect, because at least you can still make them perfect with the right upgrades.

I know this OP got a little off topic from the title, but it is all connected in the labyrinth that is the GW weapons/drop issue.

Well i guess all we can do is wait it out and see how it will impact the market, but from what i think the market was alredy as bad is it could be. Loot and Plat were controled by the rich and the farmers, thus with the 200k or more items. I think Anet were trying to diminish that type of trading to compensate for the more casual players. Including me, I for one is a casual player at the moment since school is in. And I bet majority of the players in GW are casual players. So bassically i think that this patch is meant to ballance out the Loot/plat distribution among the majority, since almost anyone can have a chance to decent/"uber" loot and you won't need to play hundreds of hours to be competitive as it was intended to in the game. GW is suppose to be "Grind" free or atleast sorta grind free. So that casual players and players that play hundreds of hours can compete despite the hours they play.

Loot cannot be controlled by rich farmers. That is not possible. Loot drops from monsters you kill.

You DON'T need to play hundreds of hours to be competitive already. Where are you coming up with that?

GuildWars is not supposed to be grind free. It is supposed to NOT REQUIRE grind to be competitive, and that is already the case.

From my experience, this is nothing new. There never has been a market for non-perfect weapons, and I doubt there ever will be one.

Purples are not usless, just because its not a shinny gold dosent make it useless. I use a purple fellbalde atm that i first bought with no mods. I then "suped" it up, and its better than any gold ive seen.

Considering that one of the updates was "Increased the drop rate of uncommon and rare items on large maps." I would guess mobs will still drop purple and gold items. In fact I would hazard a guess that they will drop more often, considering that is what they patched it to do.

I've noticed the exactly what they claimed (in fact, I noticed it from playing and then read the patch notes). I normally get maybe one gold a day (sometimes go a few days without one) and two or three purple. Since the patch I've gotten quite a few gold drops and more purple than I bothered to count. I've upgraded all four of my chars to gold near max with good mods - before only one char had a gold weapon and it wasn't even near max. Two now have several gold weapons in their slots. Heck, the few places I can solo used to be rare I got even a purple, run it three times so far and each run has netted at least one gold and three purple.

Of course random drops are just that - random. Maybe I was just pretty dang lucky, but considering that thier patch notes specify they raised drop rates (and they have the server logs to check it) I'm betting you were just really unlucky and the henchies got payed *very* well that run. The chests have been good for getting unlocks, runes, bow strings, and staff parts for me but terrible on weapons with good stats (drops were *signifigantly* better). Of course, that whole random thing comes into play - especially with how short a time the patch has been out.

Though that will greatly depress the price those sell for to other players. But then, for the vast majority of the players in Guild Wars that is a Good Thing - and Anet is more interested in keeping the largest numbers happy, not just farmers.

Loot were controled by farmers since they farm, thus giving them more items since they "Farm it", and the more casual player don't spend hours and hours running around killing mobs, that is what i mean by they control it. They spend ALOT of time farming and once they get what is so called "Uber" item they sell for well over what it should be worth.

And you if you READ carefully i said that U WON'T need to play hundreds of hours to be compettive. But since you brought up that point, B4 Faction u did need to play alot in order to be competitve since you will need to play RP a couple of times inorder to unlock some decent skills. Face it thouse templates are really not that good now, maybe when the game released but not the way PvP is evolving now.

Nope they were pretty much horrible durring Beta and realese.
