I'm from London, and i moved to the American server.
Far more populated there.
Much more fun.
And now im part of a guild which i very much like. They all know i'm from London, and theres another person whos european as well.
The time difference is hardly a change.

Also lag isn't an issue since i get none - even in a GvG match. And i'm using a 56K connection.

My own opinion. I'm glad I left Europe.
Maybe if more people were playing in Europe, then yes i'll go back.

Speaking off topic though, if Bush got assinated one day, I won't feel the small amount of sorrow.

'finish the PvE game'????

The PvE game finishes when you defeat the Lich. The ToA missions are bonuses, hence why they don't come up with a little 'mission completed' cutscene. What the hell are you going to use the XP for? What are you going to use the cool looking weapons for? What are you going to use all the gold on? What on earth is the point of spending hundreds of hours (or a few minutes on ebay) to get fissure armour? It's pure insanity, especially grinding UW to get it.

As for why anet made it so that PvP decides who gets to enter these bonus missions, I can only guess it went something like this:

Dev #1: Hey, wouldn't it be cool if we made some PvE that the various servers could fight over?

Dev #2: Yeah, it might attract some PvE players to try PvP, and give the PvP players something to fight for. We could even have a little message pop up saying who won it for the server, it would be great!

Dev #1: Oh, but it might upset some players that they can't access the PvE..

Dev #2: Well they could just PvP a bit, after all, this is a mixed PvE/PvP game. It's not like these missions are going to be vital to the game, just some added bonus stuff. Most of it will only be relevant to the PvP'ers that want more skill points or those wanting to show off their stuff.

Dev #3: Yeah, we're going to put in the 'this will take you 6 months to get' armour down there, to reward those players that play a long time.

Dev #1: Do you think they will grind for it?

Dev #3: Nah, the amount of stuff needed will mean that to grind it you'd have to have no life or be insane. Its really just something to keep those wanting 'stuff' playing till the next expansion, the n00bs.

you do the math

I don't know if that math works. I think Korea has less players than us and hold favor longer. We always throw numbers at something. 10-1 odds for a video game are no different. I think once Europe stops lagging it will be like Korea 40% America 35% Europe 25%.

Korea less players? You must be joking.

There are a LOT of Korean GW players. Maybe not 2 million, but 1 million wouldn't surprise me. PC gaming is baked into their culture something you wouldn't believe.

hmmm

I might actually have to call the favor split between korea and america.

I see people say korea has more ot america has more, but its a REALLY tough call on that one, i played about 200 hours now and i see it fluxuate alot.

Just opinino I guess, Unless Anet has some kind of clock that monitors how long each place has favor. Like how it has time of possession for football teams. Then we will truly know how has it more often.

Theres loose ends that need tidying up in Uw. That go along with the PVE side of Guild wars? All I can think is you have not completed all the missions,Bonus and kept up with the story. Not posting what because it may spoil for others Pm if you want to know.

I completed the fissure (before they added the two extra quests there, it must be said) and did the first two quests in UW before getting bored of the whole ToA PvE. Everyone seems to be based around trapper groups or doing smite runs, and I really couldn't see the point. I don't need XP, I couldn't care less about fissure armour (doesn't even look that good as an elementalist), I have all the items I need. I guess that's my problem, I can live without the favour...

The americans wont belive how dead some areas on euro server are, go to marhans grotto about midday on euro and you'll see maybe 6 people at most, go to marhans grotta about midday on US servers and they'll be ATLEAST 2 districts full of people.

You wanna do the multi class "path" missions on euro server, you gotta do it with henchies, wanna do the same missions on US servers, they'll be ATLEAST 3 groups doing them from each location.

UW/FoW?, USA servers, no problem, a monk will be along any time now.
UW/FoW?, euro servers, omg, no monk, no team, no favour.

and yes, it really is that bad, i'm so glad I made the change.

john, just because YOU can live without a set of the spanky 15k armour dose nto mean that everyone else can also live without it.

see it from others point of view.
also, who says a PvE player should just go PvP when they cant get into the UW or Fissure? you?
i have spent 30, yes, 30 mins paying PvP, and found out what i already know...im crap at it, and i cant ever win more than 1 out of 5 goes.
should i then, cause i cant do somehting, be forced to play it over and over, causing reasonable teams to get their assess handed to them? a resounding NO

some people want to go to these places, not just because they want the armour, or the items, or even the gold
they go, because they have the desire to see the place, and to explore
they are the same people that try to make the whole of the map clear or that sneak around and check every nook and cranny and even the dead ends, cause they love to explore.

and compleating the UW at the start, pff, easy. most of the players were eather newbies, who were slogging through the first few areas, or old hands that had played the game in the betas ect, and knew what they were doing, so it wiould have been much easier to do back then, when the areas werent filled with munchkins and people that think if you have enough tanks, a few monks and a nuker, you can rule the world.

No, it won't. It was already bad before the lag. Now hundreds of more players left for USA servers who WON'T EVER come back. It will stay exactly as it is now, unless A-Net FINALLY does something about it. I will wait for the next update and if the favor problems isn't gone then, I am gone, too (to US servers).

No... seriously... expect it to change real soon. A friend of mine is setting up a fixed group for the sole purpose of holding the HOH for europe soon. And so do many other people i know. Guilds are starting to unite.
Right now it is looking like europe is preparing for a huge battle. Expect to see Europe in the Hall of Heroes real soon. As soon as the lag vanishes and european players are coming back from their holidays.

It would be easier however.. if europe could finally just stop chickening out every time a korean team shows up.

Here, dear Guildwars Guru Community, you see the reason why europe commonly sucks when it comes to Favor.
Let's wait it! Yeah, let's wait for others to do our work. This is just unbearable. Imagine the following situation, an european person is drowning in a small pool which is about 1 metre deep. Instead of just calming down, standing up and simply walking out of the water the european person keeps on screaming for help.

This dialogue might have actually taken place, if it weren't for this last one.

People will grind for ANYTHING. Especially if it's seriously insane to get. The devs know this, trust me.

Its to late to do anything about it now.

The top PVP players have their feet under the table. The longer it goes on the stronger they become more faction means more unlocks for them. A PVE team has no chance of going to the halls and winning.

Statergies and Voice clients are used to great effect. And would a team really leave the halls once they win to go PVE in Underworld??? Nahh

The faction points are worth more if you get consecutive wins.

Its one of the worst ideas in the game regarding favor being won in PVP to open a section for PVE. Two entirely different games

As mentioned in a post above. PVE is about exploring every nook and cranny, opening up all the fog of war, exploring.

Not button bashing in PVE.

I think they are aware of this too (or at least they are now). It does raise the question of how best to reward long term players without making an item something to grind for. Make it cost a lot, and people will grind for money. Make it time based and people will leave GW on all day. Make it quest based and you'll get runners (and it will probably not be a long term reward then). Make it arbitary and people will accuse you of bias...

yes it does, they just don't know it yet... what will you do once you have the armour? Prance around Old Ascalon impressing n00bs? Check it off your list of items to get, and move on to finding a crystaline sword or whatever? I completely understand the motivation, but before asking for a dramatic change to the PvE/PvP interaction I'd simply ask you to consider exactly what benefit it would really achieve.

you don't seem to know that the "korea" zone includes many other asian countries than just korea

and yes, the more players there are, the more chances you have to hold the HoH
imagine 1 team of europeans against 10 teams of americans and 10 teams of koreans... that's just silly

It would be nice if all the europeans would play on the european server, so that we had a greater chance of getting favour occaasionally.

The big problem I see with WaW is this: America is a united nation, all one nationality with a sense of national pride. The same goes for Korea.

Europe is NOT a single nation, or a single country. I am in England myself. Part of the grand idea of Europe, but my first allegiance is to my country - England. The same can *usually* be said of the French, Germans, Italians...pick one.

Europe is not a whole country, all happily united (though our countries leaders may want us to think so). I have read stories of German teams being ganked by french teams, french teams being ganked by english teams... because we do not feel part of the 'whole' that alot of the world seems to think Europe is. There is no national pride in Europr because there is no nation. Europe is too separate to work together properly on the whole.

Europe will always come last in the whole WaW idea, simply because of fewer numbers than America or Korea, and also because of the competitiveness that sets European against European.

I would like to see the WaW idea altered so something more even, so that ALL nationalities get their chance at favour every now and then.
