I'm sure we're all aware of the trans-atlantic exodus taking place due to lack of favour in Europe.
So how long will it be before Europe stops winning favour altogether and American servers just collapse due to the added load of European migrators?
Being a European still faithful to our old world's servers, I'd ask Anet to seriously consider putting everyone back where he or she belongs. Sure, I'll be branded as Dr. Goebbels, the anti-Christ, Oprah Winfrey or even worse just for bringing this up, but I do think it would rebalance things a little for Europe.
So how exactly would this work? Well, by checking the user's IP, of course. There will always be ways to circumvent this system (by using IP spoofers and the likes), but it would get most people back home and fighting for their motherland.
As for trading and playing with people of the two other regions, we'll always have the International districts.
FOR SOVIET RUSSIA!!!
EDIT: See below for different suggestion.
Europeans back to Europe

Hardly arbitrary, I'd say.
Also, it's America that will crash and burn because of the huge amount of added strain.
By the time it took you to read this, at least one European switched to an American server*.
(*) Yes I just totally made that figure up. I should become a politician.
Well one thing first, the American servers can definately handle the European players coming over.
Now then, other than that, I do think they should get their asses back over to European servers, either that or something should be done so that favor ISN'T SPLIT UP BY REAL-WORLD REGIONS...that way people could just choose to join a fictional faction, and it's those factions that compete...not the real world, then everyone'd be happy 'cause many people from all the countries could be in one faction kickin' all the other faction's asses.

And even if the servers can handle all the influx, I don't think Anet would be too happy with "fully"-loaded American servers and only "half"-loaded European ones.
Anyways, a different suggestion.
Why not merge the American and European region? And then assign people to the geographically closest server, all the while staying in the same realm and fighting for the same cause.
United against Korea we stand.

I totally disagree, loads of North Americans live in Europe and vice versa. Forcing people into servers they don't want to be in would create a lot of whining/complaining. I think the faction idea is really cool, it would give a World Of Warcraft kinda thing (orcs fight vs humans and vs undead and vs elves and whatever other commonly overused races there are in that game) , it's like being part of a micro community inside a community
Plus, Koreans are getting very impopular on European servers, frustration leads people to say stupid stuff like "they always have the favor because they fight for food" *sigh*

Not that european servers are half loaded, at least not the English language servers. The heavy load is the reason we're getting lag.
Possibly we simply have fewer servers, of course. How many districts are there typically in post-searing Ascalon in the US?
Right now (8 o'clock in the evening) there's 23 districts in "european" Ascalon, out of which 8 English, 6 German, 6 French, 2 Spanish and 1 Italian. The English districts are well-populated, didn't check the others.

In essence, it's not about latency, lag or ethnicity (why is there always someone who has to bring this up?), but about the fact that Europe isn't getting any favour since we have fewer players and hence fewer good teams.
It's simple statistics.
Speaking of which, who has favour most often? America or Korea?

i changed to the american servers becaus of the waw system. i dont like it as it is atm and the only way to force anet to change it, is that more people join one server. Fortunatelly the waw system kills itselfs because people change to the server with the most favour. (i dont mention the american server is not only the server for the americans its the server of all none europeans/koreans)
i remeber the time befor waw and i remeber we were one community. Now we are dumb americans, stupid koreans and european losers... this makes me sad.
dont change back to europe until the changed this!
full ack!

As long as there is no International shard that has people fighting for it in order to gain favor, I'll stick to the shard that has the most of my guildmates on it- the American one. I don't need to be told who I can explore the Underworld with just because I live in a different country, World of Warcraft tried to do this and that was one of the major reasons why I decided not to buy it.

"Lag" can be the result of many diffrent things. Unless you're job is manging the GW servers, you don't have a clue as to what the lag problem is.
