My computer starts up, show the windows loading bootscreen for about half a minute, then a blue screen pops up for such a short amount of time, that all I can read on it is "press F8 if." My computer then restarts. I know this can be solved by wiping my HD and reinstalling, but I have some valuable files on my comp, and I'd wish not to get rid of them.
yes...I was too stupid to make more than one partition on my first install, so installing on a different partition is not an option.
I have tried the recovery console....but chkdsk doesn't find anything

ughhhhh

is there anyway to fix this so I can logon and backup my files onto my external?

slap F8 in the hope of getting a safe start option screen, and try booting under last working set up etc.
