Stop putting bosses at the end of missions

I am sick of doing Sunjiang District (mission). I thought ArenaNet learned their lesson about putting bosses at the end of mission in Prophecies, making it impossible to cap certain skills (like Barrage from Markis).

This mission is almost as bad as Mineral Springs in terms of capping. The mission itself is easy enough, but the bosses for capping don't appear until the very end. There are 4 random bosses for each profession. I've done this mission at least 8 times. How many times has my boss shown up? Twice. Once, I couldn't cap because the party wiped out first. The second was because my team decided to save that boss for last so I couldn't cap.

This is a complete pain in the you know what. I'm sick of doing this mission and watching my teammates get their skills. Because of the mission design, *someone* gets screwed, doesn't matter who, and it's just not fair to the players. It's not fun, either. At least with the old system for SoC, I could have had a chance to cap the skill.

there should be a button "leave" after the end cinematic :/

I totally agree that getting ripped out of an elite capture because the boss is at the end is completely unwarranted. It's like they give mixed signals sometimes. "Here, in order to guarantee you get your elite, take henchies so you can control what mob dies last." This encourages solohench play. "Here, in order to guarantee your team has some competence and doesn't get stuck on other npc's, take other players." This encourages teamplay. Now I'm rambling...

But all anet has to do is have a countdown timer like there is in RA/TA/HA. Have it count down to when the cinematic starts(perhaps even heal/res everyone first), this allows every player X amount of time to cap what they want. I don't think a 30 second conuntdown would really hurt anything, and certainly it'd allow everyone to cap.

It may not fix what boss spawns at the end, but changing that would mean changing the entire mission system... Which isin't going to happen. This way it's a relatively simply thing to insert, that doesn't harm anything.

Wow this is still a problem? ANet listens to n00blet cries for a rune trader and yet they don't fix this...? Annoying...

Not that I would actually know what you're talking about. Best Buy is a bad company and they shipped my preorder ON April 27th. And Anet feels it's inappropriate to give me a preorder key through the e-mail because I would totally make this stuff up, cuz you know...I totally love not playing Factions when I preorderd it in the beginning of March...I can really see how that would make sense...

You can get the elites in the explorable area version of Sunjiang District once you've completed the mission. (In fact, this is also true for many other missions)

Not saying it wouldn't hurt to give you a few seconds to capture the skill in the mission, but at least you don't have to keep running through it if you don't want to.

Why are Boss "Boss"? Because they are suppose to be at the end!

I will /sign if saying that "End mission boss should not carry one-of-the-kind Elite skills that you cann't cap elsewhere".

Meaning you should still be able to cap that skill at other boss elsewhere.

They should give you about a minute to finish up capping or picking up stray drops and things after the end of each mission. It should also come with a [Skip] button like cinimatics.

If you're quick enough, you (might be wrong) could start the Signet of Capture before the scene and when you end up at the next city, the panel for the skill to cap appears. I might be wrong though.

Anyways, it does seem really annoying like that. I like the idea of the time. Just like the PvE Tomb of Premievial Kings (spelling). The 30~ seconds before you go to the next stage.

In prophecies with Barrage it was either get Barrage at Iron Mines and have it for THK and RoF, or cap it on the bonus route of Abaddon's mouth. That's a huge hassel considering you can see Markis spamming Barrage on you.

/signed, definitely should improve the skill-capping abilities of missions.

man oh man.

I feel like pulling out some of my old as hell suggestions from this here suggestion box.

-Keep skill capping out of missions and keep them in quest, in not random instances.
(unless of course there is more than one boss carrying the same skill)

I saw this as a serious bummer in prophecies and thats why I brought it up then.
shucks, maybe they will find out its not that fun the second time around in time for campaign three and beyond.

Im on my 6th time doing this mission trying to cap Psychic Distraction.

Missed the cap the first time because we killed the mesmer construct last. Now I can't seem to get the mesmer to spawn.

They just need to have it so after you kill the constructs you have to talk to Master Togo to end the mission, giving you time to cap or do whatever for a moment before proceeding.

Yeah... there surely should be a boss at the end...

But I'm all for giving the players a chance to finish things up before the mission closes. I mean, we get that dialogue for unclaimed items so we don't miss out on loot... why not a similar dialogue for "Unclaimed Skills" which lets you pick a skill from the mission's boss, as long as you have a signet of capture, that way we don't miss out on getting the skills either.

So you want to be able to cap elite skills with none of the work. Is it me or does something seem a bit wrong with that?

None of the work ?!?

They fought through an entire mission, only to lose out because the boss with their skill was the very last enemy they killed. Meaning they have to go back and do the mission over and over again till that spawns somewhere other than the last mission.

Now if they go out and do a capping group, the person whos boss is first does less work before they get their reward. However if your boss is last, not only do you do all that work, you get shafted on the reward.

Having a movie trigger the instant a final boss dies is not just bad for capping, but also for loot drops. It encourages people to be running around picking up loot instead of fighting.

And I've never liked capping in missions - if people come in just to cap, they often quit as soon as they have it.
