what does 50/50 really mean?

For all the SS/SV necros and 55 monks running around (or in the future for other duo farming teams), what do you take 50/50 to mean?

each ecto drop = give the other person 3k
OR
you even up ectos as they drop in game (so second drop to me, I pick up and drop to ground). Any overage is either carried to next run or settled at end of run
OR
at end of run you divy up evenly

The first option might make the most sense from a prevention of scammers, but what's a fair price for half an ecto and what if only one person ever gets the drops (can you buy their ecto for 3k?)...

to me it means nothing, whoever it drops for is who gets it. if were reduced to haggling over a few K everytime something drops then this game is doomed

I usually farm with another 55 in my guild, and we do 55, although I wouldn't care if he got all the ecto, and probably likewise with him.

SS's or 55's screaming 50/50 are funny.

You recieve reward based on the coding the game comes up with. No reason to comprimise that.

If your having a bad day, go to another area and come back later, you'll get ectos then. No reason to try to take someone else's drop because you think you deserve it more than who it dropped for.

50/50 means that I won't even consider teaming with whoever is spamming it. There's a random number generator in this game for a reason...

I only go with people I know and trust well, so it makes dividing the loot very easy. It also depends on the needs of the other player. I'm only in it for the gold, so if the other person actually needs ecto to get his armor or what ever, I easily accomodate that, usually selling for what the trader will pay me and no more.

I can't imagine ever going with a random person.

to most:

50/50 = 50 for me, then 50 for you.

Thats alot different than the random people that BLOW UP and ragequit when you get a second ecto and dont IMMEDIENTLY offer it to them like it was theirs and you should obivously know that.

People love to call 50/50 when YOU get a second drop, but its a different story if they get a bunch and dont want you to have any,

I've been scammed for over 10ectos atleast.
I never 50/50 anymore, only with people and I know/trust

It means that people are trying to be fair in a world that everybody knows eats fair alive and keeps its bones as little pokey-sticks that it uses to torture all of the little newblettes who keep spamming that *is dragged back into his cell*

I do go with random folks, mostly because I enjoy the challenge. /me shrugs

I posted the topic mainly because last night I had one monk start by saying 50/50 and then after the third ecto dropped to him (none for me of course), he decided to quit out. The next two monks I ran with all wanted to go 50/50 and when I was the first to receive an ecto drop they stopped doing anything unless I would give them 3k. They of course both ragequit soon thereafter when I said, "next ecto drop is yours".

Just got me wondering if I was being greedy or something ugly like that. Personally I'd love to just run with folks I know and trust, but this being the intarweb... well you know that story already.

Bad attitudes ruin any possibility of honestly wanting to share wealth because you don't want them to feel like the run was worthless.

I understand if someone WANTS to they can split their drops to make the other guy feel like it was worth his time. But dont think for a MINUTE it is his obligation...

It makes the 55's and SS's screaming stuff like 50/50, sound like Homeless people always shouting for a handout. Just because the Businessman walks by doesnt mean he is obligated to give you money because he is better off....He either earned that and you didnt, or he had better or luckier circumstances in life. That isn't a fault for him...If he wants to give some wealth to the homeless guy thats his business and he can do that to better someone elses life.

Simple Guild Wars connection - The game choose him as the dropee - kudos to him.

If he wants to give the ecto up he is better for it, but we have a term for a society where everyone is forced to operate for the community and have no class seperation (except the rulers of course) - We call it Communism. Its a nice idea on paper. But as we know, it never really keeps up with human interest.

i do 50/50 only with my friends.

We usually use cash to pay the other half, because its more convenient.

I never group with the people spamming 50/50...just suggests that their worried the other will skimp out on them...find a pug or five ya like and get a friends list going for UW then it's much easier 1k every other time to pay Greneth... Normally odd man out gets 3k or a shard. I normally just keep going till we each get 3-5 ectos...Now I only go with those I trust, and we constantly keep in touch and call eachother out when the Favor Buzzer rings.
You'll find it much more to your favor to be honest with people. I just toss the ecto on the ground real quick and keep killing.

When I play, 50/50 is usually the guy who gets first ecto keeps it, if second one drops for him again, that one goes to the other guy. If you get an odd number per run, whoever ended up with more gives the other guy 3k.

Option 2. I never go with PuGs, just friends, but its always been option 2. We don't agree beforehand, its just how we all do it. And I don't think we've passed that along, everybody who has gotten 2+ drops in a row just starts evening it up from their side. "This one's yours" followed by a drop of the second ecto.

50/50 is the wuss's way of trying to hedge their bets and make sure that they get something out of every run even if the drops don't fall for them.

real men suck it up if the RNG doesn't roll their way. (and sacrifice a chicken to try to persuade it.)

In a PUG 50/50 basically means you're expected to
-Give 50% of your ecto drops away
-Realise that there is a higher than 50% chance you won't get squat if two in a row happen to drop for the other party member

Not worth it in my opinion.

I usually try to go 50/50 with my fellow officer who's got an ss/sv, i know i can trust him, we have played for at least 4 months, not a lot but i know him well.
