Background:
I took 4 months off from GW to play EVE-Online, but came back for the Factions event. I was dismayed to see the same volume of trade spam in Lion's Arch, and was wondering (without much hope,) if any form of auction house, broker system, escrow, etc. has been put in while I was away?
As an aside, EVE has a useful escrow system which allows you to search and inspect items for sale, etc.
Any better way to trade?

A guildy of mine last night caught Gaile Grey online in Lion's Arch answering questions, this was one of them. I believe the exact quote was along the lines of not for Factions release but 'Its possible in the future'. My take on this is they're working on it but planning to feed us a little at a time, perhaps in chapter 3 or later on in Factions.
Well in the audio interview with Jeff Strain that I downloaded somewhere, he said that they were working to get it working and implemented as soon as they could, though he said it definitely wasn't going to be finished until after Factions. The way Guild Wars has been working, they seem to take the good ideas from other games and make them their own. It's quite possible that the trading system they're working on will be somewhat similar to the trading system in EVE-Online, since that one seems to be a pretty good one. I tried EVE-Online for a while, but there was way too much just having to sit there and wait for your ship to warp around...if traveling didn't take so long, I'd probably be addicted to that game right now instead of GW
