Looking for Dye! Need Help

I am looking for a place where Dye is droped often i was told there was a place that the drops are more. Well i have been looking everywhere and i can not find one of the time i have been playing i have found maybe 5 or 6 any help would be liked thanks.

Dye frequently drops in pre-searing ascalon

yeah i made a new character, and within a half hour i had found 3 blue dyes and 1 green. there must be a higher drop ratio in pre-seering.

edit: also, u can buy dye in pre-seering VERY cheap (if u can find a way to make money there faster)

i remember when i first played, i found black dye and just put on my bow.... 3 secs later i replaced it with green dye.... i had no idea it would be worth so much =(. I'm pretty sure that was in pre-seared ascalon, if that helps

That one area in Gates of Kryta with massive amounts of Hellhounds and Grasping Ghouls dropped a bit for me, found an Orange, Purple, and Yellow today.

catacombs are a great place to farm for dye in pre-sear.

I just made my second character (necro/mesmer) I'm a lvl 8 and I have in my inventory 8 blacks 3 greens 4 silvers 5 blues and a red.

Pre-searing is by all accounts the best drop rate. However, its boring as all hell. If you can find a way to make the gold, your best bet is to make offers to buy it every chance you get. It is a little unethical, but alot of new players, as mentioned before, dont know their value. You can take advantage of that and the limited farming abilities. I actually have a level 9 ranger in pre-searing dedicated to farming and buying up dyes. I'm gonna graduate her soon with roughly 10 dyes, 3 of them black.

Pre-searing was always my favorite part of the game ^-^ I always leave the last two slots of my account empty so I can keep making new characters to go through Pre-searing over and over. So far the highest I've gotten before moving to post-searing is level 10 though. Not enough patience to farm charr in the northlands to get to level 14+ like I hear some people do... but one day.

And yeah, I'm pretty much rolling in dyes.

I got loads of dyes, mostly from pre-searing, but I've noticed in the last few days that dyes are dropping more and more for me and other. In a 2 or 3 hour mission last night I picked up 4 dyes, silver, yellow, blue and green. Perhaps this was another of the trading tweaks that Anet did.

You are sitting on a small fortune in dye alone

i sold my 3 black for 4800 at the trader some days ago... awesome - the 4th black i bought from someone for 3000 and instantly sold it to the trader for another 4800 --- that was pretty nice ^^

i hope they put in an help-info for dye... first time you get a dye in presear there will be a blue board that tells you which are basic colours and what silver and black can be worth -- might stop the dye-rips in presear...

I keep getting Green Dye... geez I'm a Mesmer, my armor is already green, do I really need this?!?

lol...it was my entire purpose for starting an ALT....you'll also find some really good drops in Over the Wall. You can farm those char still....i've gotten many purples and a few rares. I've got a max damage purple poison bow in my inventory...and I have 4 or 5 minor runes that need to be expert salvaged. there are some incredible drops in Pre-Sear if you know where to go to get them.

I must just have bad luck with dyes - after hearing all this about dyes in presearing 'I took my presearing char to the catacombs to farm - an hour and a half later all I had was spider legs and webs not one dye.

do u know how much you can get for different colors of dyes when u sell them to dye traders. plz respond.

Most colors go for 100-400 gold, silver goes for 600ish, and black dye is 3k+ gold

I've almost got the game beat with my fourth character now, and I have never gotten a black dye drop. The game hates me.

Sorry gameguy713, but the prices of dye at the trader fluctuate from second to second depending on what's being traded at that moment.

I think the prices differ from time to time because of supply and demand but I might be wrong.
