Idea:FOW or Underworld Weapon Crafter

I think it would be neat for there to be a weapon crafter in the fow or underwolrd.It could be in the same vein of the fow armor.they could put some really menacing big unique weapons in there.Say it would cost 15k and then 5 ectos and 5 shards for it and then it would be basically just like the pvp weapon selection.You would get to choose what perfect base mod it would have on it like 15%>50 or 15% during stance so on and so forth.So there would be a fissure sword,fissure axe,fissure bow, and so on and so forth that had the dark elaborate designs and it would be another great gold sink.They could even add sheilds and offhands if they wanted.It would be another thing for the pve players to strive for.Anyway thats my idea.Thank you.

I forgot to say that it should be customized to you when you buy it so that only people who went there to get it can use it, making it more of somethign you ahd to work for.

Sounds like a good idea and adds a bridge gold sink between 15karmour and fow armour.

Excellent idea. Who wouldnt want a huge spiky obsidian hammer with perfect mods? Though theyd have to be a new colour to make them 'teh uber 1337zors'

I would like to have a collector in fow or uw who, for 5 shards or 3 ectos would give you any "collector like" item than you have in PvP creation but you can't get anywhere in PvE.

energy +12
energy +15
Hp +30
Energy regen -1

There should be on in FoW with Obsidian Weapons, this collector should be in the burning forest at the end, where there is that little town.

The UW one should be Ecto Type Weapons More like ghostly and such, like "spiritual" like a sword with a ghost on the end or something tight like that.. these should be located in the spawning pools forcing people to come up with a way to either "charge" through the chaos planes or clear the chaos planes.

I agree really about making the price higher, maybe base it off a peice of armor so 15k 15 ectos and 15 shards what ever price people thought was fair anyway.Hell if they really wanted to go for it they could do just weapons made out of ectos that looks different, weapons made out off just shards that looked different, and then the uber thats made of both, but thats alot of new weapons so just having 1 new weapon of every stlye is a bit more pheasible.I really do think its a good idea though.

Bad idea. It gives a competitive edge to rich PvE players (certain weapons like the +15 -1 regen wands are really rare) over poorer PvE players in PvP. These items could interfer with the "skill > time played" aspect of GW that is so important.

the skill> time thing is probably never going to be perfect, and in pve weapon choice isn't so uber important that it will cause imbalance. This is not going to favor rich pve players because Anet will make the prices high enough that a poor person could get these same modded items for cheaper, just not the same cool skin. This is simply to please people who want the cool-looking skins, but don't want to sacrifice quality of the weapon.

There is one inherent problem though, there has not been weapon crafters of this type because it would change the economy so drastically. Gold perfect weapons you find will go for much less if this is implemented. I believe this would be a good thing however, as it takes money out of circulation (the gold goes to the trader, not another player) thus making everything else cheaper for the new player as gold becomes less abundant.

If you still fear imbalance in favor of rich players, maybe the crafter could customize the item for "x" ecto and the skin is changed to ecto/shard design.

Extremely bad idea.

If they make a weapon, it will probably only be ONE weapon with ONE damage range. Lets take the other sword recently made, just as an example.

The Icey Dragon Sword

The sword came out with a max base damage.

People who didn't have that much money couldn't afford that price of 50k + for a single sword.

People who DID have that much money could afford it.

It didn't really give any more of an edge to the owner but the fact that they could boast of their "OMFG 1337 UBER IDS SWORD".

It's not a matter of competitive edge, its a matter of fairness.

Fairness??? Its not fair for everyone to be able to afford an ids? I don't think I understand. Fair to me is not for everyone to have the same access to cool-looking stuff (ie FoW armor, ids) but for everyone to have access to items and armor that give them the same ability to do well in the game. I have never had enough money for an ids or anything becuase I only farm for things I need, but this is one thing I think I would look forward to earning. Not only would it look pretty cool, it would be usable.

Theyd essentualy be the same things you could get anywhere else, just a perfect base mod and a great skin.You can already buy weapons with perfect base mods from other weapon crafters and collectors.So i dont see how this would imbalence the game at all.

Lets say all people did was boast sure it would be annoying but wouldnt they have the right to? i'm not a rich player what-so-ever but those who can afford FoW armor and IDS's took the time to get the item or else took the time to get the money to buy the item. just like the wintersday thing. people took the time to stand and wait for 3 hours to get the hats. or they took the time to go find shards and they deserve to be able to boast about the candycane weapon's "KEWL SKIN!" or w/e they wanna say about it no matter how useless they are or how gay the ribbons look.

The fact is no matter what you do people will always boast about their items. even if they suck! and if you want to reduce teh boasting the idea of a elite new weapons crafter may be a good idea for it will put more moeny in the system's poket and less money will be in rich players pockets and the less money they have they less that have to boast over. and of course there will always be morons trying to sell to other morons customized items! tahts just part of the game. I think Anet should do it. becasue they always wanna keep the game interesting and a challenge to obtain good items. so all they have to do is hide it way back where its hard to find. and make it so expensive that people would rather get FoW armor to show off. because you know thats what A.net would do. if something is easy they make it hard. like what happened to teh useful ness of teh 55 monk. and appearently the game was too easy with the SoA axe.. they constantly change the gaem to screw any1 who thought of a good way to milk the system over!
