Won't happen. I'm damn sure they took their precautions. They'd rather have a complete broken economy than absolutely no economy at all. I'm sure a lot of people would quit right away, hence severely botching their Chapter 2 sales.

This said, a fresh start wouldn't be such a bad thing (though I've been playing this game on a daily basis for the past 9 months).

What'll happen? Depends on how ticked people get, but depending on the ToS agreement, a class-action lawsuit.
However, you have to realize, a travesty like that simply is not possible. That would require total physical destruction of ANet's various servers, and you can NOT look me straight in the face and tell me they don't have backup somewhere.
