Both of these have been done in the past, as well as the farm code that kicks in if you only kill a small subset of monsters in an area and then leave only to return again. None of this applies to the ettins as their spawns are random, there are no chests and they are reasonably challenging. My ran/mes has died a few times due to personal screwups. The ettins haven't changed in 9+ months, I doubt ANet would suddenly change them now. It's not like people don't know they like to drop runes.
The majority of my guildies and I have had less luck with them than usual. Such a streak has gone on for about 5 days. There also seem to be more Lynxes spawning in nebo, and they seem to try to ruin your traps more often.
Other than that, I'll try the ice trolls. Today I've just been killing hydras at skyward, they're okay, but I cannot really take on a group of 4+.
