Friends List DCs

I don't know if this has been posted before, and I apologize if it has, but I seem to disconnect from the Friends List server (which seems to be different from the "play" server) very often. I was in GToB district 1 American today, and I was virtually unable to sell because of the constant DCing. While it's not as annoying as a DC from the "play" server, it still seems odd. I've also noticed (via what people are sayin in chat), that it's not just me. Any word on why this is happening?

For the last few days our guild/ally has been having massive problems with people disconnecting from the friends list. I am assuming this is widespread. Are other people having the same problems. Does anyone know what is causing this?

Yeah, happens to me too all the time now.

not just you...cant seem to keep CONNECTED to the dang friends server! (been happening the last bunch of days...so not just today either).
I have theories, but nothing concrete, so I wont get my tinfoil hat out just yet---

BUT I will say that there are a lot of power outages on the east coast of the usa and scattered around the country as well due to the high heat. (may or may NOT have anything to do with it).

Been happening to me too, but I haven't talked to anyone so thought it was just me. Guess not :/

I'm wondering if this'd do better in the Technician's Corner since it is, ya know, a technical problem? Just a thought.

Now I get this error when going to forum.guildwars.com:
502 - Web server received an invalid response while acting as a gateway or proxy server.
There is a problem with the page you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed. When the Web server (while acting as a gateway or proxy) contacted the upstream content server, it received an invalid response from the content server.

It's been happening to me too the past 3 days...quite frequently I might add. A thread has been started on GW Support Forum regarding this issue.

same problem, but having to add the fact that on my laptop im never able to reconnect without having to restart guild wars due to some pretty much unknown error.

This happens to me like 4 times every day. All my friends and guildies also complain about it.

I've been getting dc'd from fl a lot, now it won't let me connect.

I have also been encountering the friends list issue, and am also now unable to log in at all due to error 042.

Several years ago, the same thing happened to me and it turned out to be that a recommended port that GW uses, was not opened on my firewall and router. I am not saying that this is the case now but it is worth checking.

I think it's too widespread for this to be the case, my theory is that they're just downgrading the server software/hardware and using their "good shit" for GW 2. Or something like that

Yip I have this way more often then usual too. To add, it seems to me to be linked to zoning from one area to the next. 3 of my friends zoned from lvl 2 bloodstone caves to lvl 3 bloodstone caves and all three their fl's dc-ed at the same time (I was in Ascalon area lvl-ing and questing with a new toon).

The only thing i hate is that if I dc from friend list and i try to switch char it ask me the password again. Not to mention that if i try to reconect to friend list server I can't click on Login I have to press Enter (no joke, clicking on Login has no effect, funny part is that clicking on Cancel works).

Same thing with me, clicking on the login button doesn't work, have to hit enter. also I was trying to chat with someone yesterday in whisper and we kept dc'ing at the same time.

Idk if anyone else noticed, but in the gw2 beta you could see when your friends were logged in gw1 on your friendslist. (showed them online even though they were on gw1 instead of gw2) which leads me to believe the servers they used for both game's friendslists were the same. My guess is they're switching one game or the other to a different server, upgrading their shared server. Or just stress testing. We'll find out I guess.

It's destroying Kamadan if anyone wants to trade something. It's a big issue IMO
