How about we try a new topic for a change: economy. I think things have changed a bit ever since HoM has been clarified for us.
My personal observations:
-crafting material prices have gone up: I sold a lot of those to buy Zkeys, and was quite happy to note that prices were quite high. Especially granite, onyx, diamonds, ectoplasm, obsidian, rubies, sapphires.
-miniature pet prices: skyrocketing. You get one pet per year per character, and 50 are needed to max out the HoM. Pets that used to be given away are now 5k. Auction prices are rising.
-general inflation: well, even the above should suffice. But generally prices seem to be rising.
Any additional observations? Predictions for the future?
Economy changes due to HoM

I also noticed that the prices for Diessa Chalices and Golden Rin Relics went up as well. There doesn't seem to be much of them in supply so I'm guessing that's the reason why it is high right now despite it not being related to HoM.
Chalices used to be around 2k or something and relics at 3k.
Sold some chalices and relics for 5k ea.
Like OP said though, it might just be general inflation though cause I have no idea how the HoM update would raise the prices for these items. If anything, they should've gone down...

Working with Fisher's Equation of exchange, it's reasonable to assume that the general price influx was caused by people taking their saved capital (ecto, zkeys, and just pure cash) out of storage and bringing them to the market. I'd say there's definitely no scarcity as of now in terms of minipets, so after the initial surge, as long as people are steadily filling their HoM with items by spending their cash reserves, prices will climb steadily. I don't see minipet supplies drying up too soon, so in my opinion there's little chance of them actually skyrocketing again after the boom is over.
With more people bringing their ecto and zkeys to the market, you'd say that prices of those items would drop. The opposite is happening, because of the need of these goods in various HoM statues (Mostly Zaishen Title, but also Obsidian Armor). This results in a rather stable price for both ecto and zkeys, with ecto even climbing a little bit by my observations, unlike ordinary gold, which is dropping.
My prediction is that prices for HoM-goods will continue to climb steadily of the next period (let's say, 1-3 months). After that, the market will probably settle again. Ecto will probably continue to rise for a bit, after which it will stabilize or even drop a bit, to it's former value. If you're planning on spending in order to fill your HoM soon, I'd recommend converting your cash into ecto now. If you want a more stable good to convert your gold into, go for Zkeys.
Other than that, if you're not in a rush and just looking to fill your HoM in the cheapest way possible, just wait it out and do it when prices have calmed down again.

@ Op Oppressors weapons have doubled / tripled in price , same with destroyer (due to mats) but armbraces are more or less the same price as they have been for last few months (prolly a result of dwg / frostway)

These have become more expensive

My whites are still chump change to me, so I still give them away.
'm of the belief that a lot of people have been sitting on large lumps of cash in anticipation of the HoM details. Now that it is known what gives benefits and how much those benefits go for, those people who had been hoarding cash dumped it all on the market at once to get everything they wanted for their HoM. Because so much money is moving around and people have so much of it to move, prices have risen significantly.
I'm not seeing those prices going back to pre-HoM-Calculator any time soon. Hell, any info that ANet puts out about GW2 is going to potentially reel in more people to GW2, creating a higher demand for HoM items, keeping the prices sitting high.

I'm not an expert on GW2 info, but I remember hearing on the Guru Mumble the other day that Anet pushed out most of their upcoming GW2 information before their latest games convention or whatever, so I wouldn't count on substantial info being released in the near future (in the next 1-2 months).
They've been going every six weeks about with large announcements; the HoM calculator game right at when another profession should have been released, judging by previous profession announcements.
So if they stick to that pattern, we should have something new in the next few weeks, since it's been a month since the HoM calculator was released.
Yes, I'm definitely glad that I got that last year. My guild leader bought his Vabbian literally a week or two before the HoM calculator came out, just barely missing the skyrocketing prices. Anyone who wants it now is going to spend over 400k for the rubies and sapphires alone (they were 13k each the other day at the trader).

How 'bout them hero armor pieces? I bought 8-10 Cloths of the Brotherhood a while back for 1k per and forgot about 'em on a mule until the update. Sure am glad I kept 'em, or else I would have been out 40-80k.
For the first time ever, I'm reconsidering farming Remains of Sahlasdfja;lsdf!adas, since I found an efficient way to do it back when I was cartographing, and now those remnants are worth an easy 8k per.
How much are the limited edition rare/Asian minis now? I'm curious to see a price comparison before and after the announcement.

AFAIK the price of ZKeys at ~5k is quite stable for the past few months and, oddly enough, wasn't really affected by the HoM update.
Same goes for ectos - their value increased with the nerfs of 600/smite and SF, but not because of HoM. Guess not enough people decided to get 105e for obby out of a sudden to influent the stability of price.
As ectos aren't affected, armbraces are still steady at ~20e, although it was much easier to get one for 18e before the update and arms are now more often sold for ~22e. Still, it's not THAT big change.
Unded Raptor: 5k -> 30~35k
Destro weaps: 20~25k -> 70~90k - that's the biggest change apart of white minis, i think.
Generally, agreed with Meridon's predictions on the market, but not ectos - their value in gold balances on quite a steady level, with low amplitudes, as ecto - and armbraces - are commonly used currency, not to mention they're still farmed and supplied quite steadily.
I'd expect the minipets to rise in price up till Wintersday's finale, then slowly start to drop.
If you have a second account, it's faster and easier to farm Glint's for gold.

No mention of sweets / party / alcohol?
They are certainly in demand, but the glut from Halloween has lowered prices. I don't think they'll go back up until after the holidays. Thanksgiving and Wintersday drops/rewards will replenish supplies, then the market will creep back up until the next holiday.

Agreed. It's very hard to find z-keys at 5k now. Those selling larger quantities want 6k, up from 5.5k not long ago. The trade window in GToB is full of WTB at 5k and WTS at 6k. (Plus a few still trying to buy at 4.8k. Don't they look at the trade window? Who do they expect to sell to them when there are 50 buyers indicating that they will pay more?) If you want them at 5k, you'll be buying them one or two at a time and standing there for hours to accumulate 20 of them.
