August 10th downtime

I'm just curious as to the reason for moving it. Anyone have any ideas?

Well, it's "for up to 24 hours" it could very well be down for a shorter time. Only time will tell!

Maybe clearing the room for the gw2 junk?

the downtime is sad news but meh i can do other stuff. but what worries me is how do we know something wont happen during it? i remember when they did one update no one was able to login in to gw. something to do with psw error. i would so hate for that or anything else to happen.

For all the server and wiki downtimes that Regina gives up a heads-up on, I'm surprised she's not the first mouth we heard it from this time, especially for something that seems a little bigger than a little maintenance.

Moving the database to an even crappier server, so expect more lag (i kid...i hope.)

I guess that will depend on where the data center is moved to. Few years ago Arenanet moved their data center from Seattle to their current location (can not remember if it is LA or in Texas). Other NcSoft games share the same datacenter right now. It is possible that the GW servers would be moved to make it easier to maintain once GW2 goes live. Possibly to where the GW2 servers will be housed.

Considering that this thread went up about 1 min after we pushed the update live - I think you guys beat us to it.

I'm hoping for more...sorry end we somehow mixed up your files with the files of some guy with a collection of q7 max or unconditional weapons..and a few kanaxais...we hop you dont mind having that account instead...

I had the exact same thought...and that worries me. I don't know if that's a reflection on our characters or Anet's....

I think if they were allowed to tell us, they would have told us. I have a feeling that they can't talk about it.
