Doppleganger issues!!

I am trying to defeat my doppleganger...... now i have done it before with my other chars, though it was a few years ago. Have the rules changed at all??... I was under the impression that they use the same weapons and skills that you have. I am wielding Jaynes staff (monks weapon)... but they have an axe??!! She is hitting me for 50-70 each time but i am only managing 5-30 ish. Is this some sort of glitch??

The doppleganger has always, if I remember right, used an Axe when in melee range. He previously used a bow for long range, but not uses a spear. His damage doesn't change with what weapon you are wielding (I think).

He uses all your skills, except for PvE skills and he cannot bring a pet.

I usually abuse PvE skills, pet skills, and fill out with wasteful health sac skills to make him kill himself.

Not totally correct, he has the Vampirism Spirit, that Sunspear Ritualist Spirit if you bring it.

When I did it, he also did not use Healing Breeze I think. Or some healing spell. Not sure if it was a glitch or not, though.

Well he is able to use Healing Breeze, it's just that the AI is stupid in a way that in NM he won't use it (unless you give him degen IIRC). No glitch, just outdated AI.

He hasn't been able to use Vampirism since the 10 Jan 2010 update. He can still use Winds though at r9 level.

Just keep in mind that you don't want to attack him physically (as you are obviously a caster). Just bring skills that will benefit you more than him. You haven't said what your professions are, so no one can give you specific advice.

I eventually managed to do it with just mending and healing breeze in my skills box. Mending i initiated before stepping on the 3rd stone. I killed her in under 2 minutes...... hurrah!!

What's funny is that in this particular case it would actually have been beneficial to bring Echo as well.

The difficulty of this mission depends on your available PvE skills and your available secondary classes.
Probably the most easy run is as Mesmer secondary with Empathy on domination magic 12, Ebon-Vanguard Assassin Support and Pain Inverter. 10-12 seconds. (EOTN required)

Almost as simple is Necromancer secondary with Enfeeble and Necrosis. (Nightfall required)

It's cheating, of course. Using only Prophecies skills is a challenge.

all you need is a lv 20 pet (a usage for your zoo)with beast master skills,stand behind the wall heal pet as needed

I did it with empathy only and I think the time was more or less that. So without EotN you're good the same. Same with pet on the ranger. Never did it with other classes btw.
