Spear skins...

As a whole, spear skins are very disappointing. Over half of the skins available look like nothing more then pointy sticks, especially the ones from Nightfall. Realistically...it makes sense, but since when is Guild Wars realistic? Spears have a problem opposite of Swords. While there are tons of shiny fantasy swords all around Guild Wars, there are only a handful of spear skins that look different from far away. Aside the fact that it's just that extremely rare, the reason people want Voltaic Spears for their casters if just because they glow and are very distinct. The other distinctive spears, like the Nightmare Spear or the Guardian spear, are either too bulky or just look weird. While there are a couple other good spears out there, I'd love to see something akin to what the swords have, a semi-fantasy spear that doesn't scare people.

Looking through The Design-A-Weapon contest of 2007, i was kind of disappointed when i saw http://www.guildwars.com/events/cont...pon07/hm-f.php . Considering how badly the Ceremonial Spear was implemented...I was surprised when i saw this wasn't put in. I mean...sure, it isn't as good a drawing as the Ceremonial, but the design would've looked much better. Compared to the other implemented weapons...the Ceremonial isn't worth much at all. This design would've been better to put in game.

My favo is the forked spear dyed black. I use with most of my charakters. But I agree with you. There are not alot cool spear skins. Ah well.. Not that I care anymore ^^

Agreed, I tend to use ornate/serrated/norn just for distinct looks.

Otherwise it looks like a bronzed stick.

straight from the wiki article, spears are meant to be very simple pointed sticks or with a small triangle or bullshit on the end... they werent meant to be large ornate flashy weapons they were meant to throw at shit and probably break... this being said... i am a very vain person and /agree that there should be better spear skins, but i just think they are trying to stick to the traditional definition of what a spear is.

Tormented is my favorite spear. Then greater guardian spear and draconic. Would have been cool to see a spear that looked like glass or the fiery dragon sword. I think given that paragon was introduced in nightfall whereas warriors have always been a part of GW explains why you seem unsatisfied with the selection of spear skins. And honestly, i dont really like any sword skins.

Even taking into account spears are relatively new compared to swords, there are plenty of rare sword skins that are out there. Even the simple swords like the cutlass and the short sword look different. And there are many scythe skins that look at least unusual, and many of them are very noticeable.

Voltaic spear is by far the best looking spear with its animation.

I like the Mursaat spear form the bonus missions.
the only thing is that those mursaat weapons are badly dyeable.

Lots of people want new/more skins for lots of weapons. Won't happen though. Anet does not have the resources for GW1 to implement the designs even if someone else submitted them. I would love to see new weapon skins and armor available, but I know full well it won't happen.

I looked over the gallery of spears on Wiki. There are a few decent ones. Of course I'm not going to /notsign for more skins, but I don't think it's fair to say there aren't any good ones.

Draconic, Ornate, Serrated and Demoncrest are really nice and they all dye well.

Voltaic is nice too, but everyone have that one.

And I'd definitely want more spears (and scythes).
What I'd really like is zodiac (and celestial) spear (and scythe).

I'd like to see better spear skins myself, personally my fave spears are Deldrimor, Charr (BMP), Destroyer, and the Norn spear.

The more common spears look like toothpicks, if not more skins, make em beefier.

I find most are not so nice and really don't like serrated or voltaics at all.

If i need one i use a tormented but failing that i like brass/spiraling or crenelated skins

Although I agree that all weapons should have the same number of skins , I also think that is is a bit too late to add such a number of them, other than a few for Prophecies and Factions, since there are no drops for some professions around there.

Anyways, I don't see why a pointy stick shouldn't look like a pointy stick, because, here are the news: PARAGONS THROW POINTY STICKS.
That's what they do. They run around without pants shouting and throwing pointy sticks.

No, ppl use it because it is BIG, that's ALL about it. if you notice, ppl like to have BIG things as caster weapons including swords, axe, bow or whatever. Skins of sword, axe and bow are NOT that much better either. They are all the same, as long as they are BIG and RARE, ppl WILL use it. A very example for this is BDS, it's god dam ugly but ppl use it because it is BIG and RARE lol. Emerlad blade, Obby blade, such and such...!!! Hieophy bow is more seeking because it is NEW and it has lots of animation, other than that, it's dam ugly

A lot of the spears are cool looking. I like the simplicity of some, but I like the complexity of others. Right now, I use this spear. I don't think Voltaic Spears are the coolest looking by far.
