Face/skin/hair can be altered as well.
Prophesies is great for a new player but it is very slow. It will take you forever to get enough money to buy max armour. On the upside, it also takes forever to get to an area that sells it. You get access to one campaign specific hero (a necro - althougha dervish hero is available in all campaigns once youa re level 20) and you are limited to the 6 core professions.
Factions spoon feeds you a lot better at the start. It also gives a bit more direction with secondary professions before you have to make the final choice. You get access to one campaign specific hero (an assassin) and it can get a little confusing off noob island at first. You get access to the 6 core professions, the rit and the assassin.
Nightfall provides heroes of all classes, you level very quickly and it does teach you how to play the game. You get access to the core professions, the derv and the paragon.
You arent locke dinto any one campaign. You can travel between them. Prophesies is European, Factions Asian and Nightfall Arabic/African. Pick the campaign that best suits the back story of your char. If the campaign gets boring, you can move to another one (although not straight away).
As for your secondary prof, you will be using mainly/all war skills anyway. You'll be able to access all eventually. Just pick one that interests you and go with that.
