hallucinations in LA

Just wondered if anyone here could explain this screenshot to me ..

This was taken today by a guildmate of mine.


Is there some simple explanation?

during one of the canthan festivals, lion's arch is decorated.

It wasn't taken today. It was taken during one of the festivals-- probably Canthan New Year back in February. The port cities are decorated for the event.

Saying it was from today was either a joke or pulling your leg, or else you misunderstood because they were showing it today but had already taken it. Hope that helps.

Either it was taken during the Cantha New Year's celebration or your guildie has one heck of a Textmod thingie going on there.

Not possible. Texmod cannot create objects; it only changes the texture wrapped around existing ones. In that screenshot there are lanterns, which normally do not exist, thus it can't be a texmod.

Nice. I wont rule it out ive had some strange things happen in la recently also. Zoned in LA at 2:00 on april 3rd and there was a dead white mantle knight near the hilltop xunlai storage. Bizzare!

Incorrect.

There have been numerous bugs matching this recently, many people posted screens of their characters in LA with this map file instead of the normal one just after the update 'replaced' the original maps file and ended the festival. While I can't fully explain it myself, it happened to some of my friends as well very recently. There is a problem within the DAT file causing your character to load up a personal copy of that LA map on a different server.

Anyone could take a screen shot of GW and overlay the calendar on it. So, that's my explanation.

My wife was in normal LA, and just a couple minutes ago, there was a system message saying "Festival decorations changing in 10 minutes. Then the Dragon Festival decorations popped up. I think someone's calendar is a bit messed up.

I know anet changed the system recently so that events don't need updates - they just 'rollover' at a specified time. I guess this was a permanent change to the .dat file which has caused her to experience an 'unexpected private festival' ?

saw the same message once, ignored it completely though.
