Obey or Dismantle

Looks and sounds very Red Faction(ish) which was in-itself kinda based on old Soviet Union/Communist propaganda. Color schemes and art style are very similar.

Maybe they will be adding some new themed PvE area/dungeon or some sort of PvP arena, or both. It would be based on some type of oppressive foreign enemy encroaching on the rights of some local minority populace, which the White Mantle fit the bill. It could also be a pretty substantial Prophecies overhaul.

Because having a choice is bad.

When the only choices are (1) paying money for new content, or (2) not getting new content, then we're not exactly being given a choice.......

A new type of barcode is to find entry and you will certainly in future encounter new square barcodes that can be read with the camera on your mobile phone.

Those bar codes aren't exactly new if I've been seeing them for years...

I'd never call the costumes "content", ffs, that's pathetic.

If ANet fancy dropping a 600/Smite un-nerf into the online store I'd be sorely tempted, but not for anything cosmetic.

Look at last year. Names changes/character changes are technically "content" as well. And we had to pay for them. God only knows what Anet is going to charge $9.99 for this year.

I was able to "decode" one of the QR codes, via a little photoshop on the Shinning Blade poster (crop, desaturate, contrast -> http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/2748/dismantle2.png) and an on-line decoder (http://zxing.org/w/decode.jspx). The result is amazing! It says:

The Obey one is too low res for the decoder to work, plus it is inverted in colors, the two of them are the same. Maybe someone can clear the pixels out, but I'd rather not spend my time doing this since the awsomesauce information that is hidden there is very likely to be

I see what they did and wouldn't call either of those "content". They promised new content for Wintersday but delivered only the costumes, which was like a slap in the face. It's just milking a dying cow instead of prolonging it's life.

The point is that those images *are* the GDC flyers (albeit colored, the fliers were b/w), and that's how the links were "encoded". Check the link to the GW2G thread in the OP.

I would pay $10 to get holy wrath back so I could keep playing the game and have fun too. But been having fun with BattleField 2 series again and BF3 will be getting my money over GW2. I do not have to worry about mantle or shining blade or costumes now. The only mystery I have to worry about in BF2 is whether I am going to be able to sneek up on that pesky sniper and stab him in the face. I usually picture them being Test Krewe or ANet nerf-bots and after I stab them I do a little T-bagging on their face before they respawn.

Um...yeah, you are, the same choice you're given when they put out a chapter. If they're offering something that's worth $X to you, buy it. If not, don't. The nature of the content, or how often it's offered, is immaterial; the choice to purchase it or not is always the same.

That said, this thread-jacking is a prime example of why gwguru is so horrible, compared to, say, this exact thread over on gw2guru.
