Seriously. The Illusion of Pain PvE nerf was completely unnecessary.
If you (Anet) want game balance, make all the professions balanced instead of focusing on the "used" professions. This effects paragons too.
Maybe people would actually use them more often if Anet were to fix their issues instead of treating them like a lost cause.
PvE Mesmer nerfs should end.

have to agree with this one... I play PvE and casual PvP, and throughout 4 years of skill changes I have noticed a tendency amongst the PvP crowd to focus on core professions only. warrior for damage, ranger for conditions and interrupts, mesmer/necro for shutdown, monk for heal/prot. Sometimes elementalists have a place there as well.
this mode of thinking excludes half of the professions that exist in the game.
we have 10 professions, not 6. there are 5 professions that deal physical damage, not 1. but notice that all the non-warrior physicals get nerf after nerf. ZOMG, assassins and dervishes and rangers and paragons can do damage! ZOMG!! nerf so that warrior can look good again.
I really think that the balance team needs to re-evaluate their warrior-centric balancing scheme. the other classes have all suffered because some people have the idea that only warriors are allowed to do damage.

no it isnt used to split every single skill but as long as the split exists, it should be used to prevent balanced skills in one format from being nerfed b/c of use in the other format.
That said, i still believe as though IoP was slightly overpowered before the nerf and I still believe that it is a well balanced skill now. IoP is one skill in which the split was unnecessary to use because it was slightly overpowered in both formats, not just in Pvp.

Did you read the skill update?? Most of the changes that were made used the split.

So many unnecessary pve or pvp skill changes because of the other format that it isn't even funny.
Remember how big of a problem Black Lotus Strike was in pve?? No?? Neither do I??

| Maybe if you're going to post in the suggestions forum, and maybe if you want something changed, you should suggest how it should be changed? |
i thought it's all obvious after reading the topic or any similar one.

You couldn't be more wrong... The game is in such a sorry state atm, we don't need any more dart board buffs.
Even though they stated that this was just a quick fix to some of the prevalent OP skills within pvp.... So you will get your buffs no doubt next month as planned.

Can I find groups with my Mesmer? Of course I can. Is my Mesmer ever a first option? Keep dreaming. Why? Because what I can do with my Mesmer falls under 2 categories. 1)Some other class can do it better 2)What I can provide for the team isn't necessary to complete the task
THIS IS OLD NEWS PEOPLE. I've had the luxury of playing all 10 classes extensively so this isn't some stupid bias opinion based on ignorance that some people tend to have when defending their favourite class.
If you take a Mesmer remove ALL PVE SKILLS and SECONDARY (Assassin's Promise for example), Mesmers have nothing to offer that another class can't do better. I've wrote on this topic many times and I'm not inclined to repeat everything I've wrote over the years. If you must know what I think have a search through my history of posts.
The single best/worst argument over the years is "You're doing it wrong". I guess everyone and their pet rock is doing it wrong because Mesmers still suck. If the PvE/PvP split exists it sure hasn't been displayed on the Mesmer camp often enough.
First step - a MASSIVE trashing of non-mesmer stuff. SY, ER, SR, AP, physical-over-buffing, Spirit Spam, Minions - this needs to die or be toned down.
Second step - allowing full hero parties. Hench aren't a sufficient option when you have 10 classes and some of these guys demand a pretty specialized team build.
Third - reworking hero AI. You seriously can not expect players to play support when the AI completely fails at playing damage. Koss needs to be dealing damage and not evading Firestorms.
Fourth - decreased skill activation times need to die. You can't have two classes that excel at shutdown and then completely remove this component from the game. Find a new way to increase the difficulty in HM - preferably with better group- and foe-builds.
And THEN think about reworking mesmer skills.
Otherwise the mesmer will ALWAYS toddle behind the big boys.

In an instanced world where all foes are static such challenges this would propose are merely short term. Once the populace have familiarized themselves with the new changes it's back to being easy mode again aka Build Wars. You have to keep in mind there are hundreds of thousands of players at any given time constantly trying to "break" the game with new builds, tactics etc...
not really, upier. add recharge bonus to fast casting (in pve of course), revert cry of pain to it's original form and connect it to fast casting and you have a decent mesmer-only build available. there were loads of suggestions on it already in a few different topics, proven that certain buffs and changes should be enough.
