330 ele issues

I am using a 330 ele build on HM to farm the luxon assassins from the Halcyon Job. I'm using this build.

And for my optional I have healing breeze because the necros like to degen you. For some reason there is a time when right when I casting SF aura there is about a whole second of time where I am receiving a limited amount of damage from each attack.
Its only like 5 or 7, and 13, but when 20-25 assassins are pounding you that is too much.

I have 280 health using a totem axe and the standard monk offhand for an extra -50 health to counter morale boosts. I have 1 earth magic, and 10 protection. I'm casting them in the right order, I even tried using glyph of elemental power to push SF aura to last 17 seconds instead of 16, nothing is working there is still that small gap.
What am I doing wrong?

Testing it out, but I may have answered my own question. It seems by dropping Protection prayers to 10 It has been causing me to cast prot spirit too early, and there is a 3 or 4 second gap where I am being affected by SF aura and THEN Prot spirit.

That is your problem. You must cast Protective Spirit before Stoneflesh Aura or you will experience the behavior you observed. The effects for these 2 skills take place in the order in which you cast them.

the way i have always ran a 330, is to take mindbender in the optional slot. this way i can run if needed, and the 2 sec gap is cut down between prot spirit and stoneflesh where you may take damage.

also, for an elite i just take glyph of renewal, then i can also keep up sliver armor constantly. and also, take out crystal wave for the luxon/kurz ele skill. giving you health back if you need it, and extra points in earth.

guildee had this same prob once, i think they ended up adding soa
