Which would you prefer ? For a decent price I would love to have DLC (downloadable content). What would you prefer ?

I like having hard copies that come with lore manuscripts. I say big huge added content packages be new expansions as usual.

For anything significant, expansions. Microtransactions should be kept for those things that most people could happily do without.

Lore and manuscripts can be included in PDF format, and will usually be uploaded to some wiki or another within a week. The last thing I need is more analogue garbage taking up limited space in my studio.

As long as whatever ANet does has a downloadable option that includes the same pre-order items or other in-game benefits as the boxed copy, I could care less.

neither because both of those options suck

new chapters every 6 months as was originally planned for GW1

I would prefer expansions. No need for the devs to spend all their time/resources making starter areas that people rush through after their first character.

Edit: Didn't really read the post.

No DLC. DLC sucks. Expansions are better. Campaigns are okay.

Expansions. I don't have a credit card so expansions buyable in a store with cash money is a must.

As long as I can download it, I don't care if it's an expansion or just a small update.

The DLC term is used more for the other genres of games. In the MMO world, especially with the slick GW streaming tech, DLC's happen all the time, they're just called different.

They should take everything they did after Prophecies, and NOT DO ANY OF IT.

Seriously guys, it was a horrible move. No expansions/chapters every 6 months, no downloadable content. Let the game sink in for a while before adding content. Then add a BIG expansion, but don't make it so retarded like Factions and Nightfall.

The campaign format for GW1 worked nicely.

This is so true. Imagine if they gave us alot more DLC like Sorrows Furnance instead of having to replay through an entire campaign again. I would even take half of EOTN like 10 dungeons with an 2 new explorable areas, new class, new armors and new weapons for all classes.

This is probably closer to what ANET will do this time around. Though your comments about the mental capacity of Factions and Nightfall run into opinion territory

I am a sucker for CEs (and especially the Artwork books in them), though I wouldn't mind 1-3xBMP sized Packets for a resonable price to keep one entertained durring longer periods between major addons.

Wouldn't be a problem if the money would amount to the same as for fee mmos if one so choose to buy them all.
(My main problem with P2P is they way you have to pay to keep what you already have and how they delete your characters&stuff if you don't pay for some month. I am specificly looking at those Sony bastards!)

Expansions are good. Campaigns waste resources with starter areas.

That doesn't get Anet money, though. Economically speaking, campaigns and expansions would be a much smarter move.

How about reading the second sentence as well ? It is ok though. I know alot are used to the campaigns but this is a mmo. Things should be different for the better not rehashing old ideas.

Which they stopped for a reason.

You might see new expansions every six months after release, but I'd expect it to average closer to every nine months (which is roughly what happened with GW1 - twelve months to Factions, six to Nightfall, and then around nine for EOTN).

I agree with this. Let GW 2 go for a year or a year in a half, with just free content updates, like SF, or just regular updates like we get (sometimes) now. Then release a big expansion. Or if they are going to do chapters, make sure they get GW 2 balanced and as good as possible, before they move on.

Yes, because in your logic heroes, inscriptions, and PvE skills should have not been done.
You let your nostalgia blind you. Is people having too much fun and simple convenience a bad thing?

I do, however, agree they should let the game go for a year before adding a factions.
