Hiya. So, I've been farming feathers out of Jaya Bluff using this build:
Flare, Lava Font, Fire storm, Inferno, Glyph of Lesser Energy, Healing Breeze, Aura of Restoration.
Fire Magic: 12 + 3 + 1
Energy Storage: 9 + 1
Healing Prayers: 6

I'm kind of a n00b, so I've been experimenting to see what works. The problem I'm having is it takes me 20 minutes to clear the area, and three times through to get a stack of feathers (including feathered crests). So, that's about an hour for 10k. Everything I've read said I should be making twice that from Jaya Bluff. Can someone give me some pointers, or is my experience par for the course?

If you have all the campaigns you should work towards better skills to give you a good, wide array of builds to choose from so you can farm other areas too. Feathers also drop north of Lion's Arch in Kryta (Prophecies) so if you have that game and access to more builds there are some good farms for out there.

I suck at farming myself. The only HM farm I can actually do is Hulkings outside of Ascalon City. Rest is simple NM farming, though, it does rake in OK cash.

first of all, you don't have all your attribute points. either because your not level20, or you haven't done your attribute point quests yet.

second, you have no elite skill on your bar. also you have no fire attunement which will provide much better e-management than glyph of lesser energy. i also recommend obtaining pve skills if possible.

You've also only listed 7 skills, so either you forgot one, or you need to add another skill to your bar (an elite).

First, what campaigns do you own?
Edit: I would suggest to use Double Dragon, but before you bother to cap it, doing the att quests would help alot more than having an elite will IMO

Hmm, well there are a lot of builds.
I use:
Sandstorm
Earthquake
Aftershock
Stoneflesh Aura
Aura of Restoration
Glyph of Restoration
Balthazars Aura
-Optional-

I like adding Mindbender for the fast casting and boosted speed.

Sand storm and earthquake should kill if anything is alive wait for it to run back to you and use after shock. You can aggro 2-3 groups easily.

Stoneflesh would just slow you down. I would suggest getting to the point you can go /rit and use spirit rift and ancestors rage. Its nm we are talking about they have like 300 hp.

It's basically luck. I've had a few runs where every scalp (and I always have more scalps than actual feathers) salvaged into three feathers, and some where every one salvaged into 4 feathers. Sometimes they're stingier on their drops. When I use my Dervish in Jaya, I get 100-120 feathers on average. When I use my Ritualist, I get more like 120-150 per run.

Anyway, to the OP, I would suggest going and doing the attribute quests ASAP. Those extra thirty points will be helpful. Maybe take your ele to the other campaigns to pick up some more skills. And just keep practicing at it.

Maybe I generally have bad luck, or maybe there's something about the method I use or the speed I kill the groups. Such things have been suggested many times by various people, although I'm not aware of any absolute proof either way. I get plenty of drops, just too many weapons/armour and not enough scalps/feathers. I can't remember ever getting over 100 feathers from one run. Personally I do believe it is the speed of kills that may be the cause. Common sense tells me that should 7 creatures die all at once, the software has to assign each drop(or none) per kill. How can it do that if all die at the same time? Then again many other threads has debated endlessly on this subject so I hope no one will respond to the above as again no conclusion will be made.

So in order you may want to satisfy yourself, why not slow down your kills and confirm once and for all what you think is the reason?

In another similar thread I did post a few pictures of my Ritualist using VwK build. She too got 160 plus feathers after the run. In fact both ele and rit chars consistently enjoys getting drops of about 20 feathers from 1 or more group kills within a run. This figure is already about 25% of your total drops. See the pics below where the first one shows at least 28 feathers minimum after salvaging the scalps.

That doesn't make sense to me, because with my current build most of them usually die at the same time, and every now and then every one of them drops feathers or crests. If it was a case of the game not being able to keep up, then it would consistently drop none or very few.

Anyway, I did my attribute point quests and am getting ready to try to capture Double Dragon. Hopefully that will improve my speed.

ok, so I got my run down to about ten minutes. Replaced Fire Storm with Double Dragon, Glyph of Lesser Energy with Fire Attunement, and I added Phoenix. I still have Lava Font on there, but I don't use it. DD, Phoenix, and Inferno kills most of them, then flare for whatever's left over (usually the ones who were standing out of range).

I think the crux of my problem was that I was having to wait for energy to regen. I still have the problem of getting less than 100 feathers per run, though. Maybe I'm just unlucky.

edit to say that I hardly ever get feathers as a drop, the vast majority of my feathers come from feathered crests.
