Do you skip dialog?

This may be the wrong section, please move if it is.

I have a friend who plays runescape and she says that whenever she talks to npcs on the game or when there's quest dialog or in a cut scene, she just skips it all.
This struck me as weird, pointless and foolish. She tends to complain that she doesn't know what to do in some quests when i think the answer is obvious.
It just makes the game boring...
I would post this on the runescape forum but you have to be a member(i was one)or be a very high skill levels so i posted it here.
The same applies for guild wars though.

So the question is, do you skip loads of dialog, cutscenes and the like, even if you have never, ever seen it before?

Sometimes yes, and sometimes no. And, yes, I have had difficulty with some quests because of not reading the dialog.

A good example is the quest in Nightfall where you choose between Goren and Norgu ("Brains or Brawn"). If you want Goren you have to choose Norgu because the dialog from the NPC asks you which one you want to send to Istan, not which one you want to keep.

I always watch the cutscenes at least once, btw.

I think this would go in Riverside, as it's more of a discussion on play habits than a question with a factual answer.

And no, I always read dialogue/watch cinematics. Makes the game more fun, IMO.

after the 10th time I usually skip them (unless there is some extra for not---like skipping at a certain point to get more cartography %)....having played thru the game with 16 characters I can repeat most of the dialog without even looking at the subtitles! so cutscenes are usually skipped....npc dialogs are "x" -ed out quickly (only need to read them enough times to memorize them as well).

I watched them all the first play-through.

After that, it depends on whether I'm in the mood. I love the Hall of Monuments cutscene, for example.

And I like to watch the one where Rurik dies.

I've watched and read all texts / cutscenes once, after that it just seems monotonous.

Yay! Your responses were quick!
Ages ago I was doing this secondary istan quest after coming from tyria to elona and a was doing this quest where you have to choose which acoylite(summing like that)to train, i chose acoylite Jin, after defeating her a cutscene followed.
I had to exit the game for some reason, all i heard was the ranger sosuke(summing like that) saying "Jin! Acoylite Jin!" Then i had to exit, which really annoyed me cos I wanted to see what happened!
Next time I logged back on the quest had been completed and all that was left to do was to claim the reward.
So what happened next?

i have never watched or wanted to watch a cutscene in 4 years, unless there is someone in the party who wont skip...

I can't really repeat any of the dialog, EXCEPT the opening prophecies one(I like that one!) I think ill do it now!

The last day dawns for the kingdom of ascalon.

It arrives with no fanfair, no tolling of alarms.

Those who will remember it will speak fondly of the warm morning breeze.

People carry on with their daily lives, unaware that in a short while all that they have ever known will come to an end.

"Scribe!"

"Yes, my lord!"

"Deliver this message to sir tydus!"

"These charr are relentless, but we shall hold the wall at all costs!"

"Bring to me the heroes what will lead our kingdom to glory!"

"Bring to me the bravest in all of ascalon!"

Some cutscenes i like more than others such as the one i just said and that asura meeting in Vlox's falls.

The opening elona cutscene is good, but the factions one is a bit... bad!

I usually read the cutscene dialog through the first playthrough or if I want to see it agian. After that I skip every time.
If you are talking about quests, I always accept right away lol. I just follow the green starburst or read it in the Quest Log.

I usually skip them now unless a new player has teamed up with me and I let them watch it.
Some cut scenes add to Cart title it may only be 0.01% but it could help later on
and some can kill you too if you have minions and the MM has died right before the cut.
had that happen once can't I remember where it was now.

I was just thinking about this ealier. I watch every cutscene alteast once to understand the story and what is going on. I also like to read what is going on quests, however i find myself skim reading of completly blanking out the large amount of text detailing the quest in the log and just go by bullet points.

When I first went through the game, I watched the cutscenes/read the dialog. After going through it the 10th time, I just skip it.

Once and once only. Rurik's death was the only truly satisfying one that I can recall. Everyone cheered.

Yeah, they get a little repetitive if you've been playing for a long time.

Dude, DON'T just skip the quest dialog! It's as pointless as skipping the cutscene dialog!:co nfused:

If you still haven't seen what happened in that cutscene, it should be on wiki. Or you can do that quest on another character. I like it, it's quite amusing. XD

Yep, love the Prophecy opening, watch it every time.

I only skip cutscenes if everyone else does (I've seen them all at least once).

I hate ALL cutscenes in Factions, they are so badly acted, and nothing really happens.

I like Prophecy and Eye of the North cutscenes the best.

I don't read them after a few times through. I have no problem with sitting through a cutscene for someone in a PUG, though. Especially if they've never seen it before.

What is the quest called i don't remember?

Yeah the factions ones dont seem that good.

I also think that prophecies and eye of the north ones are the best.

I'm not sure about nightfall though.
