Logged back into the game recently for the anniversary event and saw that I founded my guild on 6/14/05. It was semi active for the first fews months now it is just me as everyone either left or stopped playing.

So I was wondering what some of the oldest guilds were that are around, and have at least some activity, even if it is just one guy.

Riders of the Mark was created in Feb. 2005

Though I'm the only active left in the guild (=\)

I pretty much keep it around merely cause I don't know of many pre-launch guilds still in existence; maybe there's more out there that I don't kno of tho.

My guild (The Black Cats) has been around since the 9th of Jan, 2005, but it has never been very active. My brother and I are the only active players left.

Unless those guilds were made in beta and followed through into live then they couldn't have been made before April of 05. At least not their GW branches. Pretty sure the game wasn't released until the last week of April at that. Well considering the whole anniversary thing was April 23 or 25 then that would be a good guess.

You are correct wiz, GW released in April '05, but those that were in beta were allowed at one point to create guilds and then keep them as the transition from beta to launch was made.

Nice Immortius, I hadn't found a guild older than mine until now. Good tah know that there's still some pre-launch guilds out there.

I think there's a lot of 1 man guilds from april '05, people that tried the game for the single player campaign, never really got into the whole community aspect of it, and then quit.

My guild is also from april '05, still mostly active, with ups and downs. With all the millions of copies sold, there's bound to be thousands upon thousands of guilds that are about that old, even if many of them are probably inactive. A small part of a large group can still be a considerable amount.

ZoS IS the oldest guild.
my guild leader frostraven confirmed this many times.
there are some guilds that are near our creation date, but we are the oldest, created in the alpha testing of guildwars. ( 6 years ago or something, 20th october 2003)

Zos is the oldest because of the Alpha testing, But they can not really be included in this because of the fact that it was made before anyone else had the chance to make a guild. As for some other old guilds Pirate Wenches {Yarr} was made the first day in beta that a guild could be made. Unfortunatly there is only a second acc keeping the guild up as everyone has left the guild or stopped playing. Pro Hiberna {Ftw} is also one of the oldest guilds in the game made about 2 hours after Pirate Wenches.

Girl Power is pretty old. Our website says it formed during the first World Preview event at E3, but I wasn't around then so I can't say whether that's true. Maybe that's when the guild's founders first played together... dunno. The guild has definitely been around since the beta.

I'm the most active member at the moment. Others pop on occasionally. Everyone is waiting for GW2.
