*note to admins, I posted this here because, the gw on chuck thread was in here, so i guessed that it was on similar lines to it.

Now, we should have all heard the news stated by Anet while at PAX that there will be a book series regarding events between eotn and gw2, anet won't leak anything, the publisher won't leak, google can't find it. However, looking here I did find as much information that is possible atm. I shop at Chapters for books, so if you looked on the sites of the store you use (search Guild Wars, not book titles, better chance of finding it) we may get more info.

Current info:
Title: Guild Wars: Fall of Ascalon
Pages: 352
Author/Publisher: Matt Forbeck/Simon & Schuster
Release date: April 1, 2010 almost 370 or so days from now
Price (here): $10.00can pre-order only atm

*edit new info: This has recently been found though it is highly speculative: Guild Wars: Nightfall by Matt Forbeck?

Here's the link for Guild Wars: Fall of Ascalon again. http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/books/...uild+wars%2527

edit: if you didn't know about the books before watch this: 3 years of Guild Wars (2 of 6) its within the first 2min.

*note: edit: I would not like to have to tolerate gw2 release date spam, pessimism, trashing, lying etc., I don't want a close for off-topic or immaturity/trolling

what are these tv advertisements you mention in the title? it wasn't discussed in the post. do you have a link to an online version of the ad?

edit: unless your referring to the chuck placement...i thought you meant a commercial.

Well Scythe I don't recall them ever saying when it would come out. It's just rumors thus far, correct? If it's all just rumors it's best to pay attention to them, but give them no merit, since a rumor is just that.

EDIT: Sorry you meant the book.

IMO new info in April would be nice, but I'm not getting my hopes up because none of us can really know when it's coming out. However, if some of the people that post here have honestly played it and weren't simply lying to us all I'd say it won't be too long. I'm more fearful of the changes to the game design than the release date of it. I wish Anet would just cave and tell us something we don't know already! However, they have their own plans and it's foolish to mock them when we can't see things the way they do, after all, they are the ones developing it. Time will tell though, it always does.

The book also seems interesting. I'm not much of a book reader, but if it's based on a video game I like then it's probably something I'll tolerate reading. Perhaps they will hide GW2 information inside the book? It's not uncommon for games to have books that leak a tiny bit of info about an upcoming sequel. On the bright side of it all, even if it doesn't give us any actual new info about GW2, it's likely that we'll learn a lot about what's going on in the world of Tyria. It's looking grim for the humans, that much is for sure, and the dragons aren't waking up just to say hello. The Sylvari are still a curious subject, since all we have is a quest and some concept art regarding them.

Chuck ad placement does not count as an advert.

The longer GW2 remains vaporware, the lesser the chance more GW media will come out.

The April 1st release date is likely just a placeholder, guys. That's very common, in fact. It just means that they hope to have it release sometime around that time of the year.

I see that sort of thing constantly with video games - if something has a 'release' date of the first or last day of the month, then it's just a placeholder date and isn't the actual date. It's probably the same with books.

Who the heck is Matt Forebeck? I consider myself an avid scifi/fantasy reader and have never heard of him. Though I don't have high hopes for the book series, I hope this is just a joke. Anet can pick a far better writer.

I’m also getting into Guild Wars these days. The fact that my friends Jeff Grubb (also an Alliterate), Will McDermott, and Ree Soesbee handle a lot of the writing for it helps.

Well we have a title, so we now know what the first book is about. Like Verene said, that date is probably place holder so there's no telling when it'll really be released, other than sooner than April 1st 09.

I just hope play.com has the book when that comes, that's the only place where I make online shopping. I really wanna have all the GW2 related stuff, and that book is covering what's for me the most interesting side of the GW2 lore, the human and charr conflict and the ultimate defeat of Ascalon

This is pretty cool information. Bit small of a book (sorry I'm a 700+ page kind of reader). Nice to have the title and author. I'll have to look through some of his other books. Thanks for finding this Obrien XP.

Placeholders are very common in books, unless it turns out like Brisignr and takes another year (Eragon series, they were bland and cheesy imo, your experience may differ). Usually they are within the mentioned month, if they're on the 1st, if they're at the latter end then next month most likely.

As long as there is not a close, I will.

This is not exactly gw2, nor is it gw1, it is post-eotn, pre-gw2. (there is a 250 year time lapse, the books cover it)

I would like it longer also, but when you look at what it takes for that long, and how all the halo books were only 500 pages but well done, and its in a series so, should be good.

It seems that no-one watched the 3 years of gw at PAX on youtube, I'll edit first post and link there.

I know, could have been more clear but I refered to it like that since it's tied directly to GW2 and I want to have anything GW2 related. Really looking forward for the game and anything I can get my hands (especially these books since I'm a lore fan) on I will.

Question though, what did you mean with TV ads since there aren't any?
