So, from 8 oclock in the morning (GMT) to midnight(GMT), guild wars is going to be down, or just from 8 in the morning till midday (12PM).

Just checking if its a typo or not .

the mods might want to add this to the news.
If not, I pretty sure we'll be flooded by "OMG, I can't login anymore"-messages tomorrow

Or not and have some fun and post a fictitious article about massive account bans by Anet for hacking, buying/selling gold etc.. on the 20th instead.

I think there was a typo in the PST time, because GMT times seem allright:

12:00 am PST (8:00 am GMT) to 4:00 pm PST (12:00 am GMT)

Security maintenance means applying security patches, or upgrading an application, or a whole Operating System, while "normal" maintenance generally implies less critical modifications (some don't require shutting down the computers).

Honestly, very impressive maintenance perfs, I wish you smooth operations.

That puzzled me as well. Is it a 4 hours or 16 hours downtime?

What? The note says 8am to 12am GMT, and since 12am is midnight, do the math.

They already said they'd only be applying major game content updates every 4 months (April is next).

Every 4 months?

I just thought this was a random big one.

Can you post a link to that please Icy?

Edit, found it.

Miss Buenaobra misquoted the times in the opening post. Clicking on the Network News Page reveals that the correct times are as follows:

So it will be an estimated four hour downtime during twilight hours that shouldn't really inconvenience many people on PST.

And here is the Link concerning the proposed triannual content updates

The time needs to be fixed. Midnight (12:00am PST) to 4:00am PST is four hours.

In this case, it should also read 8:00am GMT to 12:00pm GMT, not 12:00am. 12am = midnight and 12pm = noon.

Concise: It's for four hours. Don't worry.

It's the whole Tuesday for most of Europe (8 in the morning till midnight). The network page has some more:

Quote:
Since Guild Wars is a truly global game, we need to perform maintenance on all of our global data centers simultaneously. There's never an ideal time for worldwide maintenance but we've carefully scheduled this maintenance period to minimize the number of players who are impacted.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope that you'll find something fun to do during the patch; the game will be back up as quickly as we can get everything ready.
