Raptor Farm or Vaetir Bombs

hey guy wich is the better spot to farm? kill raptors or bombs vaetir?

They are both very easy and fast so, do some of one and when you get board with it, go do the other. I don't know that you could really say one is "better" then the other. They both have pros and cons.

vaettir shadow bomber is imo much more better if you are farming event items, probably for unids too

I prefer Noob Island Factions Bird Guys to either of these.

But yeah, get bored and mix it up some.

For halloween I spent almost the whole time doing nm raptors, with a sf sin using inferno pheonix and flame djinn's haste. Run around to get them all in one small group. smack em with the fire skills. Grab the good drops and repeat. About 3-6 ToT bags per run on average, and about 1 minute of time spent.

Raptor farming takes about 1-2 minutes per run. (These are my best and worst times)
Vaetir farming takes 3-6 minutes per run. (These are my best and worst times)

Raptor farming has between 20-30 enemies depending on your run choice.
Vaetir farming has between 40-60 enemies depending if you have a quest or not.

Now (I am) assuming you have the ability to do both.... Assuming you can kill all the raptors and not just the 20 in the front of the cave and assuming you do not have the quest that limits the vaetirs to only 40. Assuming you kill all the enemies but with the worst possible times.

You can do 3 runs of raptors in the time it takes you to do 1 Vaetir run.
90 enemies vs 60 enemies. Therefore one would assume you would get more drops from doing raptor runs, event items or otherwise.

Now assuming you change the enemy count from having 30 raptors to 20 and keeping the vaetir number the same. 60 enemies vs 60 enemies. One would then assume the drops would be relatively the same, meaning 1 gold drop per 1 gold drop. (Of course theres anet who has their drop rate or w.e system so this is all speculation)

Anyway you would logically think to go with the run that gives the most enemies for the least time. So figure out what your capable of then get to it.

(Though i will admit Vaetirs is more fun :S)

Better in what way?
Raptors are better because they have a boss, so a chance for an elite tome, it's quick as it's right outside so you can run people, there's a rare chest for scythes, excellent drops for event items, you're zoning into a town so you can run with a relatively full inventory.
Bombing is better if you are going to farm for more than 20 minutes (you have to run there). You'll get more gold items and event items if you do though. There's a couple rare skins, & a lot of crap but w title change you can now ID and drop like me

I'm sure there's a lot more I'm missing. On the con side, both are boring

I'm sure there's a lot more I'm missing. On the con side, both are boring I agree, except for the rare skins part, well at least to the point that they will not be rare much longer.

If I am looking for a "quick" run, raptors are better. If I can stay logged in for an hour plus, I prefer vaettirs. Except for the run, vaettir farming is much more mind numbing than Raptors.

It takes 2 mins tops + a few more seconds for zoning.
Vaetir farming is defiantly better than raptors. Near enough the same time as raptors but you get double the foes.

Though i do use an obi flesh build (50% slower movement), not a bomber build. But, hell will freeze over before I make a sin, so I guess im doomed to this slow farming rate forever?

I agree if you are going to stay a while Vaetir is likely better. Vaetir you gather up one half and kill, then the other and kill and it should take 2 minutes tops. Also you get Norn Points instead of Assuran.

I tend to mix it up, but Rapter farming was getting very old. As far as Sin tomes these are almost worthless and the elite is not much as well. The variety of weapons in Vaetir give spell caster stuff instead of just melee like Rapter, so that is a good change of pace as well as mesmer tombs are always good. If you like you can try doing the Dervish boss when you zone to get a Dervish tomb or other green.

Both are mindless once you have done it a number of times.

Farmed alot of raptors during halloween with my assassin, the last few days of it I decided to try out the vaetir farm. Got more golds/event items / hour than the raptor farm, definately going to hang out there this wednesday-sunday instead of doing raptors.

A Raptor farm with 34 kills takes me like 1.5mins in average
A Veattir farm with 60 kills takes me 3mins.

So its pretty much the same kill per minute ratio.

But still i veattirs better.
Its not that boring since the runs take longer (less repetition), they do mesmer tomes which are worth more than sin tomes, they drop glacial stones and they drop more golds with better skins.


Also all in all with zoning and rezoning i think raptors take more than 1.5mins.

And Veattirs is more fun... BAAAAAM

what build do most people use for the vaetir farm anyways?

Vaettir bombing definitely ftw

Simple Farmers build is IMO the best

From the posts on here and my experience I would advise the following

1) Zone in, grab bounty (if you want)
2) Close in on top (north most) group, 36 foes total
3) Cast up SF with 1,2,3 and then 7,8 to speed up
4) Agro all foes in that area and make it back to Budger, if you cant use 5 to teleport
5) Recast SF, just 3 this time
6) Bomb them quick as you can (ive mapped drop item to the ` key top left of my keyboard so I just mash space+`)
7) Pick up drops
8) 7+8
9) Run out
10) Use 8 to run back into zone

36 foes less than 2 mins and from trying raptors for 1hr vs Vaettirs for 1hr during Halloween, I know what ill be doing

If you want you can do the other 24 but you will slow things down

also, yeah vaettir bombing has a better kill/time ratio than raptor farming so it's better for everything except items that raptors drop which vaettirs do not drop.

i dont even use anti kd to get to vaetirrs (cbf doing the quests) thats how easy it is, imo better for golds + event items 1-2 hours = 1 stack of events++ and 40+ golds/lots of dyes aswell/ around 30 glacial stones

and also ruby mauls drop quite often, salvage for rubies ftw, there like ectos

Vaettir much easier, raptor has a bit of luck involved.

Ele raptors = 32+ boss in 1:15 plus rezone of 6s gogo

Ele Vaettir = 60 in 5:00 and rezone of 3 mins every 10 runs
