Banned for inappropriate name

It's frustrating because you know they aren't actually offended, they are just trying to get you banned. The report function is the most horrid idea, I would rather put up with leavers than the people who abuse the /report.

I hope it was a Permanent ban.

Gratz, great mature name... shame you cant keep it. It is something to be proud of and share with your friends and family.

Ya know. This is a game. There is no roleplaying involved so there is no need to have a realistic name. Its just a handle. A tag. An identification. If he wants his charcater to be called "Poo Chunkin Monkey" then thats his business. It gave me a chuckle. Silly yes. Over the line no. For all i know his other characters are 'Dwwunknn Monkey' and 'The Evil Monkey' and its just a trend. For you people claiming mature? Is there not a certain, tolerance and wisdom that comes with maturity? To fully be aware of your actions and possible consequences? A wisdom that says its good to not be a tightass all the damn time? Whats wrong with having a silly name? Nothing. Nothing at all.

The fact here is he thought it was an acceptable name. So the question should be is it offensive. The answer is clearly no, but some moron at Anet disagrees.

And its unforunate for you Azure that Ra Nger can be be see a racial slur. Yes if you read if it says ranger but if you pronounce Nger, you'll find its clear. Offensive maybe, judgement call really.

Nope, been playing for just over 2 years and I've never had so much as a warning about anything.....ever. I keep to my own, rarely PvP (never on that character). All I ever did was solo farm on that particular character (Perma Sin) which is why i cared so little about a name. Out of nowhere i'm hit with the ban stick.....seems.....inappropriate.

EDIT: I have been reported before however. I brought a 55 necro into RA, and the entire enemy team /reported me for leeching because they couldn't kill me. I did it again the next round (we lost of course) and the same guy that got the others to /report me got his new team to /report me. I got dishonorable for it. Poor sports, nothing else....and i actually DID contribute to the team both rounds. I was using SV on their melee guys and actually killed a couple.

Wow......you're stupid. You realistically expect people to believe that it's even remotely possible that some kid will see a character in an outpost called poo chunkin monkey, and be "moved" enough by the name to throw their own feces? Well gosh, i never thought about it like that........probably because that's a stupid thought.

In fairness to all parties, my statement was a bit much. For one, the guys at Anet are nothing even close to nazis........and two, you know the germans would run an awesome server. In the words of that guy from all the "Sham-Wow" commericals, "You KNOW the germans make nice stuff!".

I agree completely. If I had even the remotest concern that it could be banned, I'd have gone with something much much much more ban worthy.

As for all the "its a stupid name comment".....no surprise here, i knew it was stupid.

As for being upset, don't misunderstand the post, I am not whining about my ban, I just can't believe that they believe that a name like that was offensive enough to deserve a ban.

I think in total i have been banned 3 times in the past 2 years, and all of these times i was forced to change multiple names.

Wtf!?! That is the stupidest question ever. The question whether or not his name is stupid or immature has nothing to do with this thread. It's just a game and he can name his character any name he wants (as long it's not offensive), no matter how "stupid" you think it is. Not all people take the game as serious as you.

So for you to compare it to what his Air Force pal would name him is just retarded.

What kinda lifeless person reports names anyways. I mean i could imagine if it was offensive or racist something like that, but yah that name isn't inappropriate anyways just kinda weird.

Consider this an opportunity to choose a name that isn't stupid.
I really don't see the harm in it, to be honest. It's silly, but I wouldn't give it a second glance, much less report.

Name is stupid, but not offensive. Whoever reported it is kind of stupid that is offensive.

I'm surprised at what people find offensive. An adult should be able to ignore attention-whores and go about his business.

I don't interpret that as a racial slur. I consider it a dumb name in the lines of "Xx Pro Monk Xx" and the like.

I have a question what happens to your customized weapons? And why don't people get their names banned more often if they want to change their name? I know I do.

That's a good question, i'd assume they get switched to the new name but iuno.
