Whats up with -5/20 being the PERFECT SHIELD MOD. Anytime someones selling a shield, or buying one, they always want a -5/20 on it. The other day, while in GToB, I saw someone trading a torme shield STR, for a tacticts req one. He was there for several hours so I finally traded him, and when i put mine in trade (mine was +30, armor+10vs. lightning) he responded LOL F*KING NOOOB, NO -5/20 NO DEAL. And I'm like... dude, if this is for PvP, or EVEN PvE, you go with armor+10vs. X, not -5/20. He than says "LOLWUT IM R9 GLAD, R10 HERO, R6 COMMANDER, UR NOTHING!!!! NOOOB STF^" I'm like... wow, guess I never thought -5/20 was that leet. WEll, discuss, why does evyone think that -5/20 is so great?
Shields.... -5/20 > All.

I have no clue about why -5/20% is so overrated either, Although I've got it on alot of my shields, I rather use -2/stance(Warrior). And ... + I would never use a +10 vs lightning
It's all my opinion... please convince me to take -5/20% if I am totally wrong
(Also, do not blame me on my English, grammar may suck :P

Same reason that everyone likes 20/20 sundering. Bigger numbers=better. Its not something horrible if you want something thats just generally usable, but not ideal for any situation. Having a shield vs each element would be rather useless vs a mob that is only doing physical damage, and using vs species shields would require a massive collection of shields. The -5/20% is just seen as the "always works" mod, although -2 stanced(depending on build) or enchanted (if you have a prot monk around) would be better for that situation.

Closest thing would be "Survival of the Fittest" +1...5 Armor vs Physical Damage but is for off-hands only.
And in PvE someone can't be arsed having 7 slots of different shields so -5/20 is the easiest.
In PvP you don't need your inventory empty so it's best to take a shield for every elemental/physical damage.

Alexandra: read what I just typed. Also, I run 6 different shields in PvE. I also run 6 different melee weapons. That leaves me with the backpack, belt pouch and one bag free. I also may have a GWEN rep book, some CCs and other consumables that I feel like taking along, and a bow for pulling. I never run out of space because I SALVAGE for materials. You'd be amazed at how many weapons salvage into granite.
