My point about "cool shit", though, extends beyond just shinies. It also includes real character building, like doing 6-digit damage or one-hit killing boss monsters (see: Disgaea). As I said, GW managed to half-ass the whole thing: there's grind, but the grind doesn't get you great returns - yet at the same time, maxers still have to grind for those few percentage points or extra seconds of duration. Ultimately, the biggest knock against GW2 is how Anet handled GW1. They've shown themselves to be inconsistent and directionless - not knowing what they actually want to do with the game, and not knowing how to execute even when they do. They've taken great ideas and squandered them. So even if GW2 looks good at beta, what are the odds that it will still be any good at six months or two years? |

Right now I think its a BAD IDEA to release ANY informantion on gw2's development because of WAR, and WOW:LoTLK. They are out to sell a game to more people, not just the fans they have already......trust me. If they release a video or trailer after WOW:LoTLK that's not a bad idea. |
