What happened to Ecto and Shard Prices

Unfortunately, there's two sides to that. Not many people want to buy for that price, even if they're still making 100g profits per ecto. Hell, I sold some ectos for a reasonable price that'd profit the buyer by about 400-500g per ecto, and someone still tried to shave quite a reasonable amount off my price.

Also, ew. I'm not ever going to buy shards - FoW armour's gross.

Ectos are just balancing between 4.8k and 5.5k for me.

Shards are going up, which is good.

ARe you serious? You cant think of any reason why?

Now try to sell them for 4,6k. People will laugh at you. If you sell for 4.4k, you're good at trading.

The 5.0 was always there, but it doesn't mean it had to be simply between 4.8 and 5.5. In fact it's below the 4.8 we got used to.
The sequence looks more like 4.8, 5.0, 4.8, 5.5, 6.0,... and it's not the only case when the same value appears more than once in the sequence, it's quite common on many different price ranges.

An example easy to check: Rubies and Sapphires were both at 3.6 sell price when I checked yesterday, but they had a different buy price! It just wasn't the same 3.6 position for both of them.

I can't believe you guys arent't seeing this ... but there's a million people trying to trade ectos for Zkeys. When there are many more people selling/dumping than buying ... price goes down...

I understand that there's a large influx of ectos in to the economy but are people selling ectos to the trader, causing the price to drop? Ectos will always be easy to sell for above the traders' buy price in places like Temple of the Ages.

People are giving themselves a bad deal or are wanting to liquidize quickly.

A few people mentioned this before and also in other threads.

The number of ecto's that drop does not have an immediate effect on the ecto value of the merchant. Only when people BUY or SELL at the merchant it can change the ecto value. Trading ecto's for high end weapons or zaishen keys doesn't.

Example:
Say that I farmed 150 ecto's during the last 2 days. I put them all in my storage! Then the merchants ecto value will NOT change. These ecto's are not on the merchants market since I have no intention of selling them. You could say that he doesn't know about them.

Eample 2:
Someone changes his collection of 300 ecto's for Zaishen Keys with a PvP player. The PvP player is interested in gold instead of ecto's. He doesn't bother trading them with other people and thinks that 4K each is a lot and sells all to the merchant. This WILL change the value of ecto's if many do this.

Conclusion:
As long as people think that selling ecto's for 4K at the merchant is good enough. They will continue to do that and prices WILL go down. And being a PvP player myself, I will always sell the damn things to a merchant because trading with others is a waste of time.

Soooo... We should sell them all to trader, ectoes will be 1k each and everyone will have obsi armor!!

That was pretty much my logic.

I dumped my stack of ectos few days ago for cash, z-keys and... close to a stack of shards (however many I could buy before getting tired of spamming - they're not as easy to find on the market as ecto)

Then I wasted those 80 keys on a stupid bronze spear >.>

Strictly speaking, it's more like the commodities market.

Still, it's fun to watch them panic. That's why I sell mine to the trader and make the price come down down down.

People shift from pink to black. Black pointy objects seems to be the 'in' thing as compared to pink balls now.

I guess we can all expect the Obsidian armor we farmed for ages to get to be worthless in very little time.. much appreciated anet.

Anyway, there will always be things to do.. I am now starting to progress in more titles.

Keys are higher than ectos :O I see people wanting to buy keys for 1 ecto+500g. -.-

The one FoW armor I got, I got for the looks... makes me much more relaxed, apparently

These are comments which make absolutely no sense. They won't make me a better player. They only tell me that I had fun in what I did in this game. The most important aspect of playing a game.

I never understood the point in saving virtual money in the first place. Money needs to roll.

Well personally I used some of my ecto to get a FoW helm, even though i hate FoW armor in general, some of the parts make excellent combos, particualry the FoW helm... i still specualte that it will clear up, i don't think z-keys will be used for trade either since they obviously are 4.5k-5.5k, but they aren't easy to obtain in bulk, so its not easy to trade... armbraces prob wont be used either since they are way too much in value and require ectos to buy anyways... After the ecto crashes, people will still use it and eventually it will rise back up to at least 5k..
