If I need money, I put in the time necessary to achive however much I need. It's that simple: you have to put in time if you want anything. The greater amount of time spent, the greater the reward.

I back this Up 100%, I being one of the few LBS runners left playing did see and experience runners making 700k in a day. I used to run from ascalon-->to the last mission(with hench beating mission ofcourse) for 750k, and this took about 12 hours in the summer. Now no one will pay that price now, back in the day it was popular, and many runners were millionaires in days. While the 10k+ ecto is fairly easy if you did this, the 250 armbraces is not... Only way(which malice explained) was the Item Dupe that occurred.

Its a game dude, and only that and sometimes we lose sight of that and make it our "fantasy life"

Dudes..... I've been playing the game for 3 years..... and you could say I'm not rich or poor..... I have like 2-3 sets of 15k armor on each of my chars(no fow) TBH the only time i rlly had luck was when Hm came out and started farming Colossal Scimis instead of zodiacs(stupid me) but i still made decent cash getting lots of them........ (100k+ back in the dayz) so it really depends how u choose to play gw....... Powertrading seems fine as long as I keep the diff prices in mind.....

If I really want to have no life this summer i can Farm 50 ectoes a day via Chaos plains (~10 runs at 30 mins each... 5 hours a day) and if i do it all over summer (About 3 months~ 90 days) I can make about 4,500 ectoes (Hello Mini Panda!)

and this is only over 3 months people have had 36+months to get that much.

Also there are people with that much time on their hands, especially all the Gods walking amongst mere mortal people.

Of course, the suicide rate for people farming 5 hours a day every day for three years must be staggering.

It's their form of cutting.

I (and im sure im not the only one) dont care about cash. I allways buy items I need 2K too expensive and sell items I dont want 2K to cheap because I dont want to spend an hour haggling over a few goldcoins. I only got 150K and perhaps another 50-75K in property (aquired mainly through quest rewards and merch fodder), which is far from being filthy rich, but enough to buy things I want at a time: a 15K armour set, a green/gold weapon or festival tickets for nine rings :-)

the only time i ever had more than about 40k to my name was when i was doing doa runs constantly and the drops were still worth something.
even then, i only had about 450k at max, and blew it all on sugar XD
i'm constantly broke anyway, just cause i don't treat ingame money like REAL money. the gas isn't going to get shut off if i only have 20k in storage.

I think the game is taken to seriously when it comes to money.
I only have at best 5 k and i have been playing for over a year, i make a k and put it away. its like those who have 500+k are super ubers while the rest of us are newbs.

I myself have never had more than 200k, and I'm pretty happy with that. I hawked goods, bought cheap sold high, used to play around buying mini's for 5k and selling for 30k before all minis became worthless. You can keep your obby and your Perfect Crystallines. Ill keep my title as a track star and my life thank you

I've played for less than 2 years.
I have never farmed anything for longer than 10 minutes at a time and I doubt I've spent more than 5 hours total farming.
I don't power trade. I spend even less time trading than i do farming.

I'm certainly not among the super-rich but I could probably afford a set of FOW armor if I chose to liquidate everything in my inventory or set my mind to it. I'm comfortable. If I see something I want, I buy it (minipets) or do the missions required that will likely get me the drops I want. Both my torment shield and chaos axe were drops for me (the 60 gems were)

I just play the game. I log on in the evenings and play whichever section appeals to me. That may mean doing a dungeon one evening, helping a guildie with Nolani Academy, Vanquishing, working on my Cartography title or a FOW run.

If I had instead chosen to become a hard-core farmer or power trader, I'm sure I'd have much more than 300k in the bank. I became semi-wealthy without much effort. I just play the campaigns and pick up all drops. I've had a grand total of 3 drops that were worth 100k+ and 2 others that topped 50k+

This is were people get it wrong. When someone has 4000e its not because "omg there a hacker" no they worked for it for a while got something rare in a drop and sold it. I have seen Trade Windows of armbraces. Yes Armbraces, yes I feel poor but I don't really care its not like the pixels on your screen make your real life better. If they have more gold then you congrats. If you have more then them congrats. But seriously who cares about pixel gold?

I have a little over 200k in cash after six months of playing the game casually but enthusiastically. (That's cash only, so not considering gear and materials.) It's certainly enough for me to buy anything I want; I've just accepted the fact that I'm never going to have mini-pandas or anything like that. You can enjoy the game without making an obsession of it.

Its not hard at all for someone to have that kind of money.

I'll use a very simplified model with some pretty average numbers.

Right now i'm playing a fair bit of casual PvE and doing a little PvP too. No farming, no power trading, no scamming/duping etc.
I'd say i'm playing around 25-30 hrs per week(2-3 hrs a day during the week, the rest at weekends) and making around 100k per week.
GW has been on the go 3 years which is around 150 weeks.
Thats 15000k, which at current ecto prices translates to ~3800e.

You can do all sorts of things to complicate that model, but basically if you play the game a bit for a long time you make a lot of money.
If you play the game with the intent of making money you can probably earn at 10x that rate or more.

It wouldn't suprise me at all if there is someone out there with 100,000e all earned in a legit manner.
