I am using Sousuke in my group currently since none of my friends play an Ele and let's be honest... seeing meteors falling from the sky is just plain cool. Plus, it is nice to get some damage AoE that also interupts.

That said, I am trying to come up with a good build that the Hero AI doesn't get all stupid with. Generally, I find him to be pretty accurate and smart. Currently, he is built out as thus:

[glyph of [email protected]][fire [email protected]][arcane echo][[email protected]][rodgort's [email protected]][[email protected]][meteor [email protected]][web of disruption]

He is sitting at 105 energy, 3 regen, and has a 20/20 staff. We are currently progressing through the Nightfall campaign.

Now, it is not that I am unhappy with this build. The one thing the AI does excel at it catching interupts and he doesn't seem to run out of energy unless we really start moving, which is nice. Having little or no experience with playing a Ele, so it makes designing a good hero build that much harder.

Should I be concerned with him being only fire? I thought about dual specing him with Water Magic and swapping out [glyph of [email protected]][fire [email protected]][[email protected]] for [elemental [email protected]][[email protected]][deep [email protected]] to give some synergy with Rodgort's and stop mobs from running about too much and have some damage diversity. Again, is this that important on a hero? Will he be smart enough to fire Steam after Rodgort's?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

One of the things I would suggest is getting rid of Arcane Echo, heroes really arent smart enough to use it effectively. Id also suggest replacing Meteor as there are better skills out there, maybe try [[Liquid Flame] or [[Glowing Gaze]. Fire ele heroes are ok, dont worry about fully speccing him into it, as long as its a good'un, you're fine.

Having said that, I prefer the utility of an Air Ele:

I never use [skill]Glyph of Energy[/skill] on my heroes because they seem to use it randomly. There's no guarantee they'll hit a 25e spell unless you micro it, and I never micro during PvE.

That said, I like something like:

[skill]Searing Flames[/skill] [skill]Glowing Gaze[/skill] [skill]Liquid Flame[/skill] [skill]meteor shower[/skill] [skill]extinguish[/skill] [skill]Fire Attunement[/skill] [skill]resurrection signet[/skill] [skill]bed of coals[/skill]

Heroes aren't really good with additional effects from skills. I think they're going to use Steam even on non-burning foes, using it as a spammable damage spell.

Glyph of Energy is a Mesmer skill.

Dual Attune, accompanied with Blinding Flash or a Ward Spell works out fine for me.

what?
well there is the fast cast gale spamer if thats what you mean.

Glyph of energy+gale +a bunch of degen or something sure,

but glyph of energy is in energy storage. and is actualy quite good with an earth bar, earthquake, glyph, enfeebling blood, stoning, and u bunch of other stuff around that.

The glyph itself is NOT a mesmer skill.

As for ele hero bars i just avoid using skills that bave a conditional damage attached to them as the hero AI doesnt realy use skills strategicly... so regardless of what attunement i use oon heros,
u take 3 energy management skills and then non conditional damage.(Heros suck sooo bad at energy management)

Interesting... so with a dual attune I assume the energy return isn't additive? What does it work to, like 66%?

With your comments and some more reading I am thinking:

[fire [email protected]][searing [email protected]][rodgort's [email protected]][glowing [email protected]][liquid [email protected]][meteor [email protected]][leech signet][web of disruption]

I am only marginally worried about energy loss and I still feel good about his ability to interrupt. His responsibilities as an interrupter are only until I can get a Mesmer hero, and then? Who knows... XD Maybe necro just for [signet of lost souls]. *shrug*

I think my dual spec fears are mainly because of other MMOs where suddenly having too much damage vested in one type can be crippling.

Thanks for the advice thus far.

just take out web if disruption for power leak and you'll probably be fine on energy

I took a look at a Dual Attune Air to see what I could come up with... this seems good... but I worry about over all damage from the loss of AoE and Burning. Though it may be offset with just how much damage is done quickly?

[Elemental [email protected]][Air [email protected]][Lightning [email protected]][Lightning [email protected]][Lightning [email protected]][Chain [email protected]][Leech Signet][Web of Disruption]

I'll have to play with both and see what happens I guess.

Quote: Interesting... so with a dual attune I assume the energy return isn't additive? What does it work to, like 66%? It returns energy equal to an integer of (do each calculation separately): 50%, then 30%+1.

For a 25 energy skill, dual attune will give back 12+8 energy.
15, 7+5 energy
10, 5+4 energy
5, 2+2 energy

Has anyone tested the Ele Fire Build that uses Assassins Promise on a hero?
If the nec heros can use signets properly then an ele hero should be able to us AP properly...making for a strong hero build.

No... Heroes try to use it only when monster is low on health, regardless if it's a boss that will be healed in few seconds/AP on him doesn't make sense. Plus they fail at Glyph.

never ever EVUR use [arcane echo] on a hero, they are bad at it.

Also @ Abedeus,

If aomething doesnt get a heal when it is below 5% of it's maximum HP, it probably wont get it ever and will die, heroes seem to use AP at exactly that moment, they use the hex quite well.

I used AP for some time on my heroes (including monks ) and liked how it worked so you are wrong about heroes being bad at it.

On the first 2 builds...

Radiant Insignias are bad. Especially on an Elementalist, as you have a high energy pool option on your primary attribute.

-Health runes are only good for hitting breakpoints.

And the SF lacks a 40/40 set.
