Where is the depth in PvE? That is the "meat". You keep repeating the same things over and over and over with no change, you call that the "meat"? Pretty sure Antarctica is pretty big, but that doesn't make it anywhere near as good as (insert your favorite city here).

Winning post tbh, most valid point so far :P

What do you guys mean depth anywho, because both sides have lore , ok pve obviously has more, but what do you actually mean when you say depth or meat?

A lot of people will assert they are better than others on any level they can think of.
Because assertion of theory is easier than proof through practice.

An arrogant person advertises his greatness.
A confident person allows it to speak for itself.

I play PvE purely because I can't get into PvP. It's intimidating, I try and fail because I have no idea how things work and the PvP community is not friendly in that aspect.

So I gave up and stuck to PvE, it's fun and the community is much nicer.

If their latest attempts were 'balance' updates, then I would say that no, we aren't getting any new balance updates.

Simply put: each side believes that the other has a detrimental affect on their own.

For example,

And the PvPers would get irritated when skill balances that should have been done were not done as expected or even not done at all, because of the backlash that would come from players who were exclusively PvE.

There are other relatively minor issues too but that's the meat of it.

Thanks to Anet, Pvp and Pve both suck equally. Thanks to the hostile player base Pvp and Pve both suck equally. Each has aspects that are appealing and each has aspects that leave us wanting to swallow our own tongues.

When someone says, "Oh pvpers', Or "Oh pvers" then they are just showing their character flaws. Its a game, keep your mouth shut and play. Stop crying about the other side and just enjoy what you have. People just like to bitch and complain, To belittle others to feel superior. I for one pitty those people because they can't be secure enough to allow others their fun no matter how F'd up they believe it is. And they will also never enjoy the game to its fullest because they are to busy QQing about this or that.

I enjoy pve. Its what I do normally. I enjoy the story and the rewards. I love using heroes and choosing when I enteract with others.

I enjoy pvp. Its what I do to mix things up, I enjoy the thrill of not wanting to fail my group, and learning new tactics. I enjoy the hard earned victories and I learn from the horrible failures.

So again I say, Thanks to Anet, Pvp and Pve both suck equally. Thanks to the hostile player base Pvp and Pve both suck equally. Each has aspects that are appealing and each has aspects that leave us wanting to swallow our own tongues.

Top PvP players are better than any other players in the world.

Why do you not understand this?

Accept it and move on

Not true, they are simply better than any other players who have competed in THAT tournament, or at the very least, they made fewer mistakes and or got lucky. You can not compare pve/pvp skill levels because it requires different tactics, nor can you say this person is the best because hes the top ranked because there are others out there who may be even better who have not had the desire to join a competition.

Besides, what does being the best mean when the competition is mostly filled with pvx noobs and pvp newbs? Its all subjective. But I do give respect to those players who do manage to make the top rankings. They have skill, that is undeniable. But whether they are THE best is often laughable.

Soul Wedding/Tommy are the best monks of all time, better than any PvE monk.

Please prove that wrong.

I like to pvp because there's something more gratifying to defeat a player.

I get bored of pve quickly due to no gratifacation.

Why people insult each other?
No idea, but there's no reason to deny that high lvl gvg does take more skill than any pve.Lets not deny that or try too we all know the truth.

It would take only one exception to prove this statement wrong. On the other hand, you'd have to assess the ability of every GW player out there (both PvE and PvP) to prove it right. You first

Stop with the sillyness. It's pathetic.

Don't tell me you wouldn't enjoy being considered a top level PvP monk if you could achieve that level.

Any player that can play at that level will play at that level. Pve is only so stimulating.

Fine. There's a reason that Soul Wedding played for EvIL and some DVDF monk did not.

This Devil's Advocate bullshit is annoying. In PvE you're playing against a set environment with set creatures with set skills with predictable reactions and so on. You can predict virtually the entire playing field, and thus be equipped to deal with it as perfectly as possible. You can manage aggro, control it, etc.

In PvP, you can assume that the other team will run balanced or a gimmick. Let's say they run balanced. You can't control their aggro; if they don't enjoy being body blocked by you, they'll simply kill you. It takes much more skill to monk against a warrior quarterknocking the stuffing out of you than to powerheal through a bunch of EotN monster skills inflicting Deep Wound, 120 damage, and Bleeding.

I can play vs. Bots in Starcraft all day to my heart's content. The bots in SC are fairly similar to GW AI - exact same patterns. When I go up against some human player, expecting to play like I do against a bot, I'm going to get thrashed. The same applies to Guild Wars.

PvE is good for the game. You get shiny weapons, silly quests, story, etc. But in no way is PvE even comparably as difficult as PvP. The best players in the best PvE guild will have nothing skill-wise on the best players in the best PvP guild.

Get over it, move on, accept it.

Its not really a PvE vs. PvP agenda. Its more like a solo vs. teamplay argument. When a skill balance is introduced, one of the first posts is always "**** you Anet, you ruined my farming build". Guild Wars was not supposed to be a solo game, it was meant for people to use the H/H or to party up with each other. If you do teamplay in PvE, chances are you will always find a way to accomplish something or you use Ursan if you can't be bothered.

So, when Anet completes the divide of PvE and PvP in the upcoming skill update, the real winners are the solo farmers.

Despite a few that have a hard time understanding, I don't think there is any question to the accuracy of this statement. However, I also don't think this is the issue at hand. The issue is how much people claim PvP, as a game mode, is better than PvE, as a game mode, and vise-versa. I think what the OP is getting at is that they are both simply subjective choices, neither better than the other, and people should chill with the animosity a little.

The fact that a heated argument came about from the mere mention of "better players" on one side as opposed to the other gives an excellent example of just what the OP is talking about. People have their preferences, for whatever their reasons, and they should not have to be subjected to ridicule on that principle alone. It's just childish, and it makes everyone who participates in the dispute look really, really bad.
