Not that I dont like the sound of being able to play a male Sylvari, cos I really do; do you have any evidence? - I've only seen the concept art as a female, and all of the sylvari have been refered to "she" so far...

iirc, Nagas are intelligent and used to be on good terms with humans according to the Factions manual.

I remember Gaile saying she had seen concept art for the Sylvari male. It was somewere on wiki (possibly on the Sylvari talk page or her own talk page)

Time traveler. Duh.

Centaurs are also clearly intellect enough to be a player race (look at Zhed). Still, I wouldn't hold by breath for anything but the bare miniumum currently promissed.

I think I found some early concepts of Syvalri, found in this thread of Guild Wars: Utopia concept art. (The unreleased fourth chapter of Guild Wars) http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=108591

I believe these to be Syvalri, the ears only really.

On a side note, maybe Norn in GW2 will be able to shapeshift into more than just bears?

Would make for a rather unappealing class to look at but that wont stop everyone from playing

Seariously, if the Sylvari are meant to be elves then we know what they will look like. The stereo typical thin human with long pointed ears.
I think the sylvari are supposed to be more like Dryads than Elves. I think they're even supposed to be considered senient plants that happen to look humanoid.

I think I remember reading somewhere in EotN that the Stone Summit were almost all gone after they got defeated at Sorrow's Furnace. What was left of their ranks all headed North and what we saw of them in EotN was all that was left of them.

Thanks so much for that link to the concept art! I nearly messed in my pants with awe and joy.

I learn something every day. Even then, they seem to have been driven to extreme aggression and savagery. But for all I know, they could be planning to return in some form, what with all the vicious attacks on anyone that gets too close.

Yeah, they can be very selfish and condescending. Their high intellect can only lead me to believe that they understand the need to be neutral. After all, a poor warrior abandons his best weapons, not to mention turn them against him. I have the slight feeling that the Asura are going to be playing us all for chumps.

Well I know I saw a glimps of the tree during the end game cut scene. I'll bet they will go with Sylvari because if they went with dwarfs they would be going against the actions in GW1. If I understood that correctly the dwarves are now to disappear into the earth because they are at the end of their race time, forever to be stone. However I think an elven like race would be a great addition to the world of GW.

I'd also like to throw in that it would be awesome to play as an undead

I think it would be interesting to be able to choose a "bad" or "good" affiliation for any of the playable races, perhaps even setting up some PvP options around this.

I admit it, I want to play an evil Charr.

Maybe there could be a reputation / karma counter, sort of like in Fallout series, that would give some implication whether you've been doing good or evil things.

Or better yet, the concept of "good" and "evil" wouldn't even exist and would totally depend on perspective. Maybe it's too ambitious for a game like GW, dunno, but one can hope.

The perspective of good and evil between playable races is how I envision GW2 to be. For example, the Charr and human races are enemies, to a human like Gwen, the Charr are evil. The Charr and Norn, however, probably have some sort of unspoken respect for each other as natural hunters and warriors and respectively don't see the other as an evil race. The true evil is in the Dragon antagonists.

I'm rather excited about how this is all going to play out.

God, I hope PvP isn't based off of races : ( Otherwise, Sylvarri are going to get rolled.

I reckon they will only be able to shapeshift into the bear, else the ancient beliefs of theirs would have shown them how to change into a boar/wolf prior to GW2, as in EotN times, even long before that..
Its probably just some concept of what they "could" shift into, they chose bear obviously

However, the only way I see this working, is like different colonies of Norn, so far we have only seen the shiverpeak Norn

Speaking of it, but on a relatively different note, how about other races and their many regional differences?

For example, we could have Humans from Ascalon holding Ebonhawke and fighting against the Charr... (Ascalonians)

And on the other side we have Tyrians in Divinity Reach, could they be effectively two different races?

What about the Charr?

There are currently 4 Legions. Iron Legion, Ash Legion, Blood Legion and Golden Legion.

As far as the story goes, it appears that the latter (Golden Ladder) has been considered outcast by the others lately, could this mean we're going to only be able to play as a Golden Legion Charr? This is pretty weird considering that the Golden Legion was the one responsible for the "discovering" and worshipping to the Titans, but who knows what happened on the days that followed EotN?

I find this particularly intriguing as it wouldn't make much sense joining humans and charr in the same group for no apparent reason (which seems the case so far), and also nothing we know so far implies that the races are going to be rival (ala Kurzicks vs. Luxons, or WoW's Horde vs. Alliance thing)

Anyways, couple thoughts.
