CPU Coolers

Ok so. I got an AM2 Athlon 64 x2 here currently running on the stock cooler @ 2.8. Now, While it does get a bit warm, it stays within acceptable temperature ranges. But summer is coming up which means the room will be hotter and as such, so will my pc overall. So i'm looking to replace this stock cooler with something more effective so i don't have to worry as much about my temps. But CPU coolers aren't exactly my area of expertise so i could use a few recommendations.

My main thing i will say about it though: I don't want one that is gigantic, such as ones like those tuniq ones. Basically something effective, yet not as huge as ones like that.

Well, for starters I'd look for something that is all copper and has Heat Pipes.

The Mini Typhoon is a lot cheaper now too, and it looks like it will be huge in your case, but actually it's really small compared to what I've seen.

Just make sure to get the all copper ones not the copper core ones.

Hmm. i'll take a look at those two. Oh and, i assume that is the temp under a full load?

Well, with Guild Wars up it's more like 45~C, but with the right thermal paste and application of that, then you can be pretty sure you can keep low temps. I don't over clock either, so yeah.

Uses HDT technology, even though it's made of aluminum, it's far superior than copper coolers.

I agree. I used to be for the scythe infinity, but this one's better. Get the red scorpion edition, if you can, it's slightly better and looks just a little nicer.
But this is kind of huge, just the thing you didn't want, so I don't know whether you'd like it.

Has always been a solid performer and can have the fan modded to a 92mm Silverstone (see pic).

The MX-1 paste is compared to Artic Silver and in some cases has outperformed it.

^In looking around I've heard some say the arctic freezer 64 pro is pretty good. About how tall is it though... My main thing with the height is i'm worried some might like... hit my side panel fan.

Ah. Guild wars itself isn't very stressful though. Even the stock cooler on this runs it 8-10°C cooler than the most demanding and stressful multi-threaded app i use.

I do overclock, seeing as a 4000+ isn't 2.82 by default(lol), so i wonder how it'd handle that.

I've heard good things about the Arctic Freezer 64 yeah, but I also heard it's very big too, so you better check it out to make sure.

And yeah I know, but I can't really check the temps while playing more intense games, so I don't know. I'd have to alt tab a lot for that.
