RAM Compatability Question

How do I know what RAM will be compatible with my motherboard?

I know its a newby question, but thanks if you both to take the time to answer.

Go to http://crucial.com/ and use their System Scanning Tool. It will show you how many slots you have, what you have installed, and what you can install. Then it will try to sell you some - Crucial are good, but you may prefer to shop around.

This is by far the best suggestion. I agree 100%.

Crucial RAM btw... is AMAZING. Best RAM I have ever owned, and there are a lot of reasons for that. Their testing is one. Their quality control is another. Their chipsets are second to none. I run 4GBs Ballistix RAM, and all I can say is WOW. Just friggin WOW.

I personally prefer corsair, as I've had one bad stick from Crucial, and countless bad sticks from OCZ.

It's always been Mushkin RAM for me. Can't beat it.

Micron D9's are no doubt the best DDR2 chips.

I like mushkin, but they're overpriced (well worth it if you get a nice batch). The very old Team Xtreem RAM is good too, but the newer ones don't use Micron D9.

G.Skill, Crucial Ballistix, and Cell Shock are also the only brands I'd buy.

Corsair, Kingston, Patriot, Geil, OCZ are also good price : performance RAM.

That helped a bunch. Tried to sell me a pair of 1G sticks for $75. If found them on newegg for $60 with a rebate, so I'll probably go with that. On another thought, does anyone have any opinions AGP graphics cards that could play GW and some other games like BF 2 and TF 2? (yes I asked this on another thread too).
