Any sugestions to beat the quest *Bear Club For Men*

As the title says

My Derv is having trouble defeating the rabid bear in the bear club for men quest.

Ive tried a variety of builds and several different secondary professions.
I am not holding the club the whole time but am using a scythe to deal damage.

Most of the time I get him to just below 50 % health and cant get much lower.
I got him close to say 5%, once after a very long battle but just couldnt get him lower.

Any suggetions?

Ursan Blessing is an easy variant too.

Ebon Escape outside the ring and use range attacks/degen... provided it still works anyway.
