With the recent release of GW:EN, I noticed a new [Consumables] trader where you can purchase a 'Perfect Salvage Kit' that removes ALL chances of destroying what you salvage.

So what good does a MAXED Wisdom title do me now?!?
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Wisdom

If you DO have a higher-end item you want to change the mods to, you wouldn't dare use anything BUT the NEW 'Perfect Salvage Kit'... and the folks that have played long enough to identify 10,000 items generally don't care much if lower-end items are destroyed or not after removing a part... the extra 100g from the merchant is trivial.

I suggest that the Wisdom title's benefit be changed from '% Salvage Increase' to '% Lockpick Retention.' Can't a certain level of wisdom be used in locksmithy to retain a lockpick???
__________________________________________________ ______________________________________
Notes:
The percentages will need to be adjusted slightly to allow the Treasure Hunter, Wisdom, and Lucky title's benefits to stack without giving a retention rate that is to high...

What are your thoughts/comments???

Remember you can't really get an unlimited number of Perfect salvage kits - since they cost skillpoints. Also, they only have 5 uses. On most things I'd rather just take my chances with a normal salvage kit. Only using perfect salvage kits will prove very costly methinks.

Also, as nice as it would be to have an obscenely high chance to retain lockpicks I feel things are fine as they are so...

It's a MAXED TITLE. You answered your own question.

The cost alone for 5 perfect salvages does not make it very feasible. Plus you need the right Norn, Asura, etc, titles to get the perfect salvage kits. A high cost perfect salvage kit with 5 charges was needed IMO.

I think you are over reacting here a bit.

Actually, upon reflection:

They will be a great tool for hi-end items. But I doubt people will waste them salvaging mods from merch food. Your wisdom title will help you retain said merch food and earn back a little more gold.

Wisdom is still valid, albeit ever so slightly diluted.

Not everyone will have EotN and those people that don’t have it may also not want to spend money on expensive kits being sold by people bringing them over to the other campaigns.

I rather use an expert salvage kit on my merchant gold staff that’s worth 400g to get +5 energy head, rather than using a perfect salvage kit that costs ~500g (or more) per salvage. Since most merchant gold weapons range from 150-500g, that gold sure adds up over time. And some of us ID dozens of golds each day.

The title will still have it uses. /not signed

Perfect salvage kits aren't changing anything. I like that they implemented them. Now when I buy perfect weapons and shields, I can salvage off those god-awful 20/20 sundering mods and the -5(20%) inscrips.

Does the wisdom title track give 100% salvage rate? I didnt think so. So even those with max wisdom will need to use these.

Tying to lockpick retention could be cool, but then you'd be nerfing one of the games major money sinks...

Idk yet, I haven't really thought about this too much.

Saying this, remember back when titles were entirely passive? We still went for them in a bid to show off, and people will continue to do so.

Also, titles aside, PSK ftw when re-modding hi-end items: Entirely negates the need to stand around for (potential) hours when searching for specific mods.

Great idea, just needs some balancing.

I think it's perfectly balanced as is, because using perfect salvage kits would cost more money then using a superior salvage kit per charge. 250g + materials + a skill point for only 5 charges seems a little steep for salvaging runes and insignias off random armors found in the field. Obviously these are not meant to be for everyday use, so I think the wisdom title still holds some merit for everyday salvaging.

...why?
people complain too much

its roughly around 50g, 10 dust and 10 iron, which is maybe roughly 500g + a skill point total PER SALVAGE with an id kit.
are you gonna pay 500g and askill ppoint on using it on purple or random golds? doubt it, only really nice tihngs, when its worht it. so in no w2ay is wisdom useless.
+ its a title....

your only gonna use these ooon rare skins i assume with a perfect mod thats not needed, or a skin you have and transfer the mod.

Don't know like you, but I won't give that much - Skill point, materials and cash just for 5 uses. I guess I'll stick to making my Wisdom Title on monk or ritualist.

For me it's all about getting perfect mods off of high end items without that chance of losing the item. Especially for say 20/20 sundering or +30 hp mods. Hell I wish they had come out with this before I salvaged a mod off my gold gothic dual axe that had inherent +5 energy. It was a wicked skin and I got the mod, but lost the axe.

You're wisdom titles are still going to work with the other salvage kits, but there are times you're going to want that 100% perfection.

ooo does this mean i can use them on unidentified gold armours and then double my id of gold on them?

anyway to the point, wisdom as others have said is not useless in this new environment. I can now get the perfect salvage kits, but at 250g, 1 skill point and 50 iron and 50 glittering dust its very expensive i would only use it on perfect weapons that had really crap mods that i wanted to remove. this means it will be very rarely used, however on other items like purple or blue armours i will use the expert salvage kits and take the loses for cheaper.

Only time I would ever use a PSK is if there two perfect mods or needed to remove a price rune from an armor peice...

It also makes sense, since HoM know has armor unlocks - only for elite/15k sets... do you really want to chance moving runes like that around w/o risking destruction of very expensive armor.

And costing Skill Points is not a "cheap" thing.

Huh yeah. Like I'm going to use it for -every- mod.

No.

I use perfect salvage kits when I want to retain the 2 mods on something, or changing a mod without breaking the item but still want the mod I removed because it could be used on another item. My ID title is my ID title... and I'm going for it anyways. If I only one want ONE mod out of a skin I don't like, then I'm gonna use an expert salvage kit - I'll have my ID and my mod, I'll be happy.

I prefer the chance to lose your uber-item. By giving the "elite" the chance to never lose their super-item you completely remove them from the long term economy. They never have to buy from the "lesser" beings again because they can just spend 500g for the salvage rather than having to rebuy a lost staff head or a semi-rare pommel.

Of course, the "economy" is already completely screwed and pointless unless you're devoting obscene amounts of time to high-level area farming in DoA and the like, so I fail to see how this will fundamentally change much of anything anyway.

Someone's overreacting a ton here.

Perfect Salvage kits are not exactly cheap and are 5 uses. Wisdom titles are constant. Rest of the points are in some above posts.
