I don't see this happening in GW 1. In GW2, maybe...If you're gonna be soloing, they're probably gonna have to make it a little more interesting, I guess.

Mounts would be out, though. There's map travel, so there's no need for that.

Adding two-handed or dual-wielding would require a lot of new work and rebalancing. I can't imagine they'd consider it now, when all of their effort will be going into GW2.

For GW2, sure, I'd like to see more weapon options like this. Though I'd hate to see mounts. Mounts would imply an end to map travel, and would make avoiding combat too easy, and would just turn it into a different game. GW2 is already trying way too hard to be WoW, IMO.

Longer staff, longer cape, power ring, semi/full auto long bow, cross bow, ninja star, nunchuk, kung fu monk, close combat spear, sling shot and a banana cannon.

As for Mounts, Batman has batmobile maybe Anet should put that in as well.
Wahhaha :P, not all two handed swords will only be used by warriors, im thinking like, just a fieuw are exclusive for the warrior class, and the other classes can use them to.

Think like a two handed katana for the assassin...

mounts
don't really serve a purpouse in guild wars as is.
see, most mmorpgs without the instances, serve you a huge world, where you can run wherever you like (within bounds)
in guild wars, these bounds are alot bigger in many place...
ok, you have the deserts where you can roam, but the maguma jungle for example is so dense you have to walk on small paths ...
if there are enemies on those paths, how do you want to run trough that pack without getting hit off your horse or whatever mount you have...

second thing is that with the map travel in guildwars, a mount wouldn't be such a biggy... everyone can travel from one end of the world to the other in a matter of seconds... would you use your mount for that when you can instantly travel there?... if you would do it with your mount, you would have to cross 20 instances for example = 20 loading screens, where you dont even run in a straight line to your destination eh... due to the design of the maps, most of the time you have to run huge detours just to get from 1 side to the other...
Hmm got a point there.... with the mounts, and one more up for the two handed swords nice

Well, 2H sword and axes CAN be made ballanced and completelly fiting with current skills and weapons (see my post about merging shield and weapon to one.)

Also, nothing prevents having 2H sword being considered normal sword by game mechanics statwise, but only making shield not displayed and having that badass look.

What I would want out of a 2H Sword or Axe is Increased attack speed and damage similar to Hammers.

What might work the best would be for 2H weapons to have the same damage and attack speed as hammers. Maybe make the 2H sword with the attack speed of an axe with added damage and give the Axe more Max damage and the same attack speed as a hammer.

One handed hammers like maces, battle hammers and clubs could have the same damage as the sword and same attack speed as the axe.

The thing with 2H weapons is that you give up defense for offense. So giving weapon and offhand stats while wielding a 2H weapon would not be balanced.

The ability to carry a weapon in each hand or an offhand item would add to variety.

You win a cookie. Swords already have the same attack speed of axes (and daggers) at 1.33s/swing.

tbh sounds like your trying to turn it into wow with the mounts..

.. and tbh warriors would look like fags with swords bigger than a fellblade/colosal

I have been wanting 2-handed axes & swords, and 1-handed hammers sense beta's. Unfortunately, it is not simply a matter of increasing damage and reducing attack speed - you need to take into account how such weapons will impact skill use, and that will take a good bit to balance out correctly - something ArenaNet is (judging from past updates/current game) not capable of doing.

Put simply - excellent idea, but if implemented to the game in it's current state, will destroy it.

Mounts...
Seriously, what point could there possibly be to mounts in this game?

About the mounts... I see where you'r comming from but...

picture this; having a beast/creature/insectlike/catlike etc. mount ... no horses.

Think of it like the pets rangers have in the game but only a bit bigger so you can mount

I think it would look great, and be fun, whit the mounts you could explore more of the land without quicktravel or go farming.

But some of the comments about mounts i saw, are well tought about and i can see why its not a good idea to put them in to GW... but still maby in GW2 who knows.

Farming? What does that have to do with a mount? .It is easy enough to get anywhere you want in Tyria/Cantha/Elona. If Anet does put a mount then every professions and levels will become runners.

As for Two-handed swords and axes I wouldnt mind those being put into GW.

Ok forget the farming part... my bad and about the runners... if everyone had mounts than you did't need any runners

so one more problem would be solved...

I'm thinking mounts along the line of mounted combat, not so much traveling. But that's a GW2 thing.

You can be your own little horse archer.

Not on the WoW thought (never played it, wouldn't know):

These are all things available in Sacred. I ran a dual wielding Vampiress that also rid horses. If I wanted that, I'd go back to that game.

We don't need the horses....unless we could have fun with it. What's next: Grawl has dropped a bucket of water for your horse?

the two-handed sword/axe idea is very interesting but would probably take far too much effort to implement in gw. you would need a new set of skills, tons of balancing and so on. it would still be fun to see in gw2...just imagine cloud from ff7...drool. like many have said, some more rudely than others, mounts are not really necessary, but would be fun to have, and again they would probably require way too much effort for anet to pull off in the current game. i do like your idea about treating them as pets, able to charm different animals and whatnot (i cannot recall seeing any horses in this game...) but it would require a lot to balance them: no stances of course, but could you use weapons on your mount, if so would there be mount only attacks, would the mounts themselves have attacks, how would damage work against the mount, etcetera. lots of balancing to consider, but it would be cool. maybe something to look for in gw2.
