That is the question I have about GW:EN weapons. Any word on if GW:EN items will be inscription based or not? I imagine they will be. Will be interesting to see how they juggle their desire to make all new items inscribable with the fact that GW:EN takes place in Tyria where items are not inscribable.
To inscribe or not to inscribe.....

I wonder if switching to inscribe-able translates to nerfing the special unique collector bonuses away.
Like during the armour change, not only all the desert headgears lost their +1 EN, you can't even fix them by adding your own +1 EN insignia back...
If so I'd rather stick to the old system for my existing items.

Bringing down the value is Anet's goal. Inscriptions allow alot of players to get decent weapons by playing without needing to use collectors. It works for everyone except the hardcore people with old rare tyrian/canthan items that they think look better for some reason. :|
Edit: Meso bad typer.

They won't change old chapters. GWEN areas are on the same continent as Ascalon, but then again, so is Elona. That means nothing. If you own Proph, you may be able to get to GWEN areas overland, the way you can walk to Elona through the desert. I'm sure the GWEN areas will have heroes, inscriptions, and other Nightfall features.
Inscriptions are vastly, VASTLY superior to the way Tyrian and Canthan weapons are. Not to mention that it means most of the stuff you find is actually worth using.
I hope they make inscriptions retroactive. Not only would it make Tyrian and Canthan drops worth using, the inevitable shitstorm would be hilarious...

Prophecies and Factions are great from the point of view of getting those rare items that look somewhat silly when you first pick them up (+healing prayers shield anyone?) but in the right build, on the right character they can actually be useful.
Inscriptions on the otherhand allow for max dmg/energy mod weapons in the skin you like. I've a lovely azure recurve on my ranger for interrupts now. It has max mods - which I put on it, and I really love the skin.
I don't want Anet to change either of the systems - and I don't believe they will - because as they stand at the moment they both have their purpose.
Having said that, I believe the new map areas are more likely to run to inscribables.
