That is the question I have about GW:EN weapons. Any word on if GW:EN items will be inscription based or not? I imagine they will be. Will be interesting to see how they juggle their desire to make all new items inscribable with the fact that GW:EN takes place in Tyria where items are not inscribable.

While it takes place in Tyria, the actual maps themselves are not a part of what we "know" as Tyria - it's a new area. That is my understanding of it.

I have always thought they would eventually update the Prophesies/Factions drop system to be like NF, similar to the armor change.

Though, I kinda like the current system as-is. Only method to get a +Healing Prayers Shield heh.

I recall a Gaile talk in Lions Arch where she went 'down the hall' to confirm whether weapons in EotN would be inscribable, and she said she was told they would be.

I sure as hell hope not.

I wonder if switching to inscribe-able translates to nerfing the special unique collector bonuses away.

Like during the armour change, not only all the desert headgears lost their +1 EN, you can't even fix them by adding your own +1 EN insignia back...

If so I'd rather stick to the old system for my existing items.

I hope they are not so the rarity is kept up at least for a while.

The only people who don't want weapons in GWEN to be inscribable are people who are looking to make a profit out of farming and selling them.

Inscriptions are great, and I see no reason why GWEN shouldn't have them.

Agree, I like the inscriptions. Infact I do hope thay'll retro update all of the old items as well, just for the heck of it. Oh I can hear it now tens of thousand of voices cry out in fear. It'll be like a bomb going off at the riverside.

I can see both the advantages and disadvantages of the inscription system.

Although unless they are going to bring the system in for proph as well as EotN I don't see how it will fit in with the continuing story.

i hope they dont make it inscripton based weapons since it is in tyria and i have never really liked inscriptions that much brought down the value of many items....=/

Bringing down the value is Anet's goal. Inscriptions allow alot of players to get decent weapons by playing without needing to use collectors. It works for everyone except the hardcore people with old rare tyrian/canthan items that they think look better for some reason. :|

Edit: Meso bad typer.

As someone that likes to play the game rather than turn it into another job where I need to somehow maximize my earnings, I love inscriptions and I hope they make a return. In fact, I hope there are NEW inscriptions!

I hope that they continue the inscription system in GW:EN, but don't change anything in Prophecies and Factions.

I would much rather have inscriptions rather than get a weapon with a bad damage mod or no damage mod :O

They won't change old chapters. GWEN areas are on the same continent as Ascalon, but then again, so is Elona. That means nothing. If you own Proph, you may be able to get to GWEN areas overland, the way you can walk to Elona through the desert. I'm sure the GWEN areas will have heroes, inscriptions, and other Nightfall features.

Inscriptions are vastly, VASTLY superior to the way Tyrian and Canthan weapons are. Not to mention that it means most of the stuff you find is actually worth using.

I hope they make inscriptions retroactive. Not only would it make Tyrian and Canthan drops worth using, the inevitable shitstorm would be hilarious...

didn't gaile state GW:EN would have inscripted items, or am i just daydreaming here again?

altough weapons without a damage mod would become weapons without a inscription slot and i truly hate those, we need to get rid of em!

inscriptions are fine, but they better not change the mods of old weapons that would suck so much.

Prophecies and Factions are great from the point of view of getting those rare items that look somewhat silly when you first pick them up (+healing prayers shield anyone?) but in the right build, on the right character they can actually be useful.

Inscriptions on the otherhand allow for max dmg/energy mod weapons in the skin you like. I've a lovely azure recurve on my ranger for interrupts now. It has max mods - which I put on it, and I really love the skin.

I don't want Anet to change either of the systems - and I don't believe they will - because as they stand at the moment they both have their purpose.

Having said that, I believe the new map areas are more likely to run to inscribables.
