freezing up while decompressing in towns and hall

i just recently got a new computer with vista premium, GeForce 8800gts graphics card, 4gigs ram. went and downloaded gw off the site. when i go to some towns and my guild hall it just freezes up while decompressing at 5 or less files left. this happens on most, but not all of my characters if that has anything to do with it. I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling and that didn't fix it.

any suggestions?

I think its Vista, just because its new doesn't mean its perfect....I am not saying for sure its Windows Vista, but a good chance. Microsoft hasnt completely got all the bugs and glitches out of Vista.

PS: I hate Vista so far, and Windows XP SP2 is all you need right now.

well it could be vista, but many people are running it fine. any other ideas would be nice. i really don't want to have to install xp just for gw.

Same issue at the school PCs with vista. Same PCs, XP runs fine, Vista freezes on decompressing.

I burned my .dat file to DVD and put that at the PCs, now it works fine.

Got a friend who can give you his .dat?

support told me to run it and add -image to dl everything at once, which fixed the issue.

what is this -image thing?

I had to re-install and it is taking forever to get the files from the game. How do I do this -image?
