Journey Towards Maxing Storage Gold

Hi all, I believe some of you already know I have quitted the game. After all the fun in game, money chasing, titles grabbing... it all comes to an end.

I believe many people have maxed storage gold. Thats for sure. I remember from different occasions, I have people asking me how I get money to buy my stuffs ie fow armor, weapons so on. There are many people richer than me. So I would not say this is a guide or what. Just probably some sharing of my own experience of my journey towards getting the gold to buy the things i want.

First off, I got to state that I don't farm. Tried UW, but ended up spending more on entrance fee than getting ectos, haha. Most of my gold are from trading.

I started off trading purple Fiery Dragon Swords (hey they are worthed something back at prophecies). Moved on to SF greens after they came out and later to other higher ends golds.

There are many form of trading. Namely: High Ends, Low Ends, Greens, Mini pets, Festive items etc. I wouldn't say there is a best form of trading. I have a friend who managed a stack of ectos simply by trading low ends.

Another way i made money was by running missions. In the past, running missions is done with friends or guildies (if you can't solo), so you got to split the profit with everyone involved. Now with the introduction of heros, I realised that if I run missions with heros, I only need to share with them :P . And that means I got to keep everything

Ah forgot to add that a being thrifty do helps a lot.

Anyway I got my maxed storage box by heavy farming,getting my minipets the day they came out,and some lucky drops.

Before LS, I would solo vermin farm about two days a month, maybe another day if I was working on getting the money for a set of 15k for one of my characters. I also turned some common crafting materials into rare materials through the artisans, and then 'flooded' the rare material markets with the new materials. Usually saw about a 5-10k profit margin on that.

However, to reduce my need for money, I also saved all the worthwhile collector items to get max damage weapons, offhands, and shields (Guildwiki FTW). The mods that I slapped on them came from the various forms of loot that I salvaged and from more than one generous guildie. I did this not only for myself, but for all the heroes across my (now) 12 PvE characters, and for at least 5 guildies and their heroes. I also restrict all my characters to one 15k set max (if they even have one), and if they need a special set of armor for something (55 monking, etc), it's just a standard set of max level armor.

Despite all that, the most I've ever had is 125k. I like having extra money just because it feels good to have that money there if you need it, but I wouldn't say that I've gone crazy about chasing that 1 million gold dream. Getting to that point would take so much time that I couldn't enjoy the game for what it is in my opinion.

First two months of Sorrow's Furnace... so much gold to be made it was incredible. I traded fellblades and chaos axes as well, which netted me loads of cash. I'm a pretty cheap guy so I've been somewhat maxed out ever since.

hey kobey, seeing you in high ended alot b4 so does ascalon id1, yea, u are the excatly same type of person as i am- hardly ever farmed(except greens for heros,which is handy with E/A-_-)
k, i am chinese, yes, i speak chinese, and i can type in chinese IG as well. Now u might realized what i used to earn my 1st set of fow after playing GW 1 month and half.yes, you are right, i buy stuff from chinese farmers for low price and sell then in US dis for a decent profit. that was almost 2 years ago.lol
later on, after faction came out, which is right b4 the 1st year mini came out as well, i start to trading zodiac weapons, at that time, a perfect one really worth a bunch of ectos.
then mini came out, big time isnt it? trade trade, bone dragon, shiro,rurik, those are worth more than 100e+ back to the days, and at that point, i start store some ectos and cash in my storage.
NF came out! w00t new skins, either rare or not, they are new! ppl like new stuff, so do i. after two weeks of NF hunting, 1 day stopped at kamadan dis 4, saw a guy selling a colossal simitar req 9 gold max inscriptable 75k, hmm, never heard of that sword, nither saw it, might just buy it and see how it goes turns out 3 weeks later sold it for 100k+115e, tbh, i earned more than a stack of e just from trading colossal. i saved up ectos.....
DoA is out! ppl rushing in and getting pwned by titans,margos,shadows,and those minion lookin thingy lol (j/k) another chance to earn some money from this new area. titan gems, armbrace.mallyx weapons( not until i finally got my 1st green from that monkey after 2 and half months-_-, but it was the reaver), i saved up ectos.....

sweet tooth! bunnies and golden eggs are out, /searching chinese farmers lol during that weekend i sold 30000 points sweet tooth point at guru high ended, 10000 points to a close friend no profit
i know there are ppl out there way richer than me, but i am satisfied, i enjoyed my money that i earned, and i am kinda pround of myself as well(wtb armor+10 vs flame shield inscription) here i want to thx 4 real good friends: PW, EP, SRG, and TD(all 1st letter of the IGN), if any of you see this, i /bow to u 4, u guys helped me while i am in trouble and give me nice advise and helpful infomations.

Sold IDS for 80k a pop when they first came out. Then I used E/A to farm greens in Factions and NF and made boat loads off that. GG.

About farming? heck! i farmed almost 5 hours yesterday and got 20k.
Are you telling me you farmed over 250 hours without spending 1g to get your storage maxed?!

A-net ruined the game for true.
Instead of letting a GM stand in bergen spring for example baning the hundreds of botters there, they went and nerfed farming.
Farm in groups?! heck i never find any group welling to go vanquish on hard mode.
Farm bosses?! i was trying to kill some assassin boss for his daggers on hard mode for 2 days killed him over 50 times i swear and it never dropped.
and i know the daggers sell for 5k max.

it is might not your style of"play" but i do beleive some ppl in game are enjoying it, so do i. and i play the game, 17 title maxed, rank 8 as well, i play the game, and i enjoy sitting in the town screaming as well

It's great that you have so much gold, as you no longer have a purpose for your gold maybe you could consider giving it to me? I'm always short on gold somehow, but maybe I have too many chars.

Undeadgun: Wow, thats a really amazing trading experience. I lost count of the number of ectos you earned.

Deadly Eyezz: I think there are many aspect to the game. PVP, PVE, Farming, Trading, etc etc... U might not like WTB/WTS, but I can assure you there are tons who like doing that. And thats playing the game too

It's kind of fascinating seeing the ways you earned gold, thanks for sharing.

At the same time it makes you realize how the game has devolved into farming gold for many players. That was not the original intent of the game, but it's very prevalant.

I made my first ecto's when Factions came out. Just like undeadgun I noticed a high demand for Zodiac Weapons. I bought a perfect divine favor Zodiac Staff here on guru and sold it the other day here on guru. My profit: 400k. So people who say you can't make good deals because everyone in here knows the prices are wrong.

I've never been entirely sure how i managed to net 2 million gold. I got a fair bit from E/A farming in Sunjuing Distract in the first few weeks the build was out. Got a fair bit from Stygian Veil trapping with heros (for gems and LB) before the solo build was posted on Guru and the price crashed from 10k per gem to 2k per gem. Got a load of Ecto/Shard in storage but i never actually sell them so they don't count towards anything.

But hey, i have Ale Hound and Connoseiur and working on my Chests/Wisdom title as we speak. Prefer nice titles over nice skins tbh.

I believe I maxed storage gold before factions came out... and honestly I have no clue how that happened. Made a lot ettin farming, my first experience with solo farming, but I also spent alot on the green SF weapons. Then, once all my characters were equipped, I just played. Lots of FoW, tombs runs, some trapping UW, but at that time I didn't get any lucky drops and gave my ectos to guildies. But since my characters had everything I wanted, I saved every last gold piece I picked up, and it added up over time.

Since factions I started doing a lot more soloing: hydras, bosses, outcasts, wardens, kirins. Didn't get any spectactular drops, but the money increased steadily over time. It was exactly that sort of gold farming that got nerfed recently.

Since nightfall, I've made money just playing through the game on all my characters, opening treasure chests and doing quests. Since I didn't care for much of the new armor, I didn't spend much. My dervish and paragon got vabbi armor, but the rubies and sapphires were all acquired with trade contracts I got from vabbi quests. If I had sold those, I would have made even more.

I also spent quite a lot on minis and my mes' fow armor, so it's not like I saved everything. But pretty much everything else I got on my own. If I wanted a green weapon, I'd farm the boss myself (since factions). And I never have to buy materials from the traders, or sup vigors.

So... um... I'd say I made my money just playing a lot, solo farming for gold, and not spending that much.

theres nothing like a bit of gambling, which is how i got my last few hundred k a couple of weeks ago i farmed some doa gems and got myself some coffers. 5 rubies and 5 elixors for my first two. after that i decided to have another try, farmed myself 2 more coffers and got 5 titans each which i sold off immediately (prices gone down even more now). the rest of my money i got to max out storage was from just farming everywhere, although its getting a bit boring now with such lousy drops and low prices...i even used to enjoy doing solo UW when there were decent drops, always a chest to open and had to corner smites with e/mes. although my money can go quick sometimes cos i like buying armour/weapons.

i personally came to GW about 8 months late, so i first maxed my storage by farming SF greens , then bought monk fow .

then i nthe first week that factions was realesed, i identifyed the most expensive and the hardest to farm green item in the game at that time, ghials staff, and spent fdays perfecting a solo farm method for him, in the space of 6 days i made just under 5million gold from ghials staffs, this is when i descided to share my build with others and offcourse now the build to farm him is widly available, altho the greens nerf means u cant farm half of them in a day now as u cant see if hes actually holding the green weapon now like u could before.

then i bought more fow and was again poor, until the first week of NF, were i spent 2 whole days first finding out if it was posible for inscribable magmas shields to drop there, then finding a place to get them, then chest running over and over again, so after a weekend of chest running i had 9 max gold isncribable magmas shields, wich then filled my storage money many times over.


but now im poor again, and there has been many nerfs to chest running and farming in generall, and IMO they have ruined the game of GW for me, there is no wa to earn any REAL money anymore , anything thats even half worthwhile takes too much time and effort now imo , so i barly play gw now, and im still poor. the last time i played GW i spent the night making a build to solo farm UW in HM, just he first room of axtte tho, but extremly safe and rediculously fast, but i just dont have the patience for gw right now to earn alot .

Nope, Making money of someone that doesn't know the actual price of an item is not a part of the game, believe it or not but it's true.
I speaking for myself when i see someone selling too cheap, I pm and tell them. this item worth more.

All my money was done from farming greens. First Jacquis aegis with Warrior /riposte for 15-20k a pop, but it was kind of slow. Then with NF you could flag heros and hench and get a drop alone, much faster and easier. I made bout 500k selling Wing's axe during triple drop green in cantha. Then I moved on to Wandalz Refuge/Shagu's anthem, 15-20k but kind of slow. Now I farm Dwaynas with rit but it's hard to get 30k for it now, it used be sold a lot easier. Everything is cheaper since HM update ;/
