Rotscale + Hard Mode = Impossible

You can't beat 1 boss? It isn't too hard.

1x W/X tank
1x Broadhead Arrow Ranger
1x Dom Mesmer
2x Fire Ele
1x SS Necro
2x Monks

The SS can be replaced with some defense if you have bad monks... LOL - did you actually do it with that party in HM?
I doubt it...

I h/h with my regular team build on the 1st try. I didn't even remember that rotscale was in that area.

I flagged heros/hench to beneath the cliff...so they won't be in aggro range and bows attacks wouldn't hit them. Then he climb the hill and started picking on boss mob 1 at a time. I kept protective spirit on me at all times and spammed Necrosis until a foe was dead. then recharge energy and did it again. That was back before pain inveter (which would have really speed things). You killed Rotscale with Necrosis in HM? I think not.
Rotscale has an estimated 20000HP so 90 damage at rank 10 sunspear is 222 separate casts of necrosis and thats not even taking into account his natural regeneration and lifesteal from FOC. If you were alone and all your henchies were flagged - what did you do about the rotting dragons ranger spike, because prot spirit does not protect you enough by itself!


"back before pain inverter?" Pain Inverter is totally and utterly useless here, especially if you were stood by yourself.

I doubt it... I'm Legendary Guardian, it doesn't matter WHAT I say, because I'm right. If you can't beat Rotscale, you are bad, because it's just a caster boss...which hasn't ever been hard. Interrupts + Damage = dead. How is that hard?

IDK, could someone enlighten me? HM is HM, regardless of what/where. Like Rotscale. It's the same difficulty as any other hard mode parts of the game, albeit slower due to higher health. Just beat it like you beat everything else, shutdown then damage. Because I've gotten Legendary Guardian, I know how to win Hard Mode, so of course I know how to beat Rotscale...

Grats on Guardian. But Guardian does not mean you beat Rotscale. Tyrian Vanquisher proves you beat Rotscale.

Oh, and its not the same difficulty as other Hard mode areas as evidenced by the amount of posts with people say omg wtf "impossible" and "Rotscale HM" in the same sentence. Some areas can be brute forced but some, like this one require a little pre planning or there is massive failure in Hard Mode.

Please post your builds, I would like to be proved wrong.



You never did Rotscale in Hard mode with that!
Don't you hate it when people give bad advice or just pick random skills and post them. Here is some great advice - better than SV>Pain Inverter anyway...

Jeez.. I posted builds, they will work against him, one person even said it worked. Hell, here's another one for your enjoyment:

War/X - anything, don't care what
Mo/E - Smiter
Mo/E - Smiter
Mo/E - Smiter
N/E - SS or SV
Me/E - Anything shut down
Mo/E - RC or WoH
Mo/E - WoH

You changed from a 2 monk team build to a 5 monk team build. Both builds extremely vague and not at all useful. I especially liked the comment at the end - "That will win. If it doesn't, it's because you are bad at the game." Patronizing as well as vague!

I would like to see you do this with either of these builds, I can play any of the classes in either of your builds. Then bring heroes, that's what they are there for. If you can't play something, change it so you can...there isn't rules telling you what to play. Winning PvE is the easiest thing ever, stop complaining.

This is a discussion forum, here for discussion and to help other users. When you type W/x that is not posting a build thats is being vague and unhelpful.

Unlike you I've done the Tyrian Vanquisher title - I have beaten Rotscale and I posted a working easy to run build if you bothered to look a few posts up.

Comments like "That will win. If it doesn't, it's because you are bad at the game." or "Then bring heroes, that's what they are there for. If you can't play something, change it so you can...there isn't rules telling you what to play. Winning PvE is the easiest thing ever, stop complaining." it is not in the least bit helpful, and a little bit patronizing. (if you dont know what that means then google it)

So I ask you again to please post your builds, this time without the patronizing comment at the end.

Thanks. Of course I'm being patronizing, people can't beat Rotscale. What else am I supposed to say? Oh, I'm sorry you cannot manage to beat a simple boss, I feel for you. Ha! Beating ANYTHING comes down to 3 things. Damage, Shutdown and Damage mitigation. How is it hard to think of 8 people to achieve that?

W/X is that because I really dont care what build. I run Eviscerate with Save Yourselves! and For Great Justice!, but really, Warrior only has to stand there to take the attention of the other crap.
